I just received my stuff from AutoGeek. I'm very disappointed in the size's of the Dodo Juice Products for the price, outragous.

Need For Speed 250ml $19 (Not to bad)

Basics Of Bling Protection Wax 100ml $30 (Not to bad)

Basics Of Bling Detailing Spray 500ml $13 (Nice)

Red Mist Tropical Protection Detailer 250ml $17 (Joke)

2 Pack Wax 30ml each $26 (Joke)

Iron Gloss Paint Sealant 100ml $30 (Joke)

Supernatural Micro Prime 250ml $20 (Not to bad)

The stuff really does smell nice, but the amounts are a JOKE! I hope this stuff is really great. What are your experience's with them?

Last time I purchased DoDo products they provided the size of the bottle in the description.

I've used their waxes in the past, I liked them but I've used better. I still have 4 little jars and I tried to use Banana Armour last week - must have dried out cause it was flakey and crumbly, might have worked if I felt like rubbing the jar and then the paint in tiny areas at a time. But it sucked trying to put on a pad and spread with my PC on a red LC pad. I switched to AG HD - problem solved.

Those Dodo waxes do smell good though.

The Dodo hype lasted so long I almost bought some supernatural... glad I didn't, I don't see much mention of it anymore.

Dodo products are good products but the retail prices are very high. On the ones you make special note of, the tropical mist is a flammable product so there are notable costs in shipping to the US. The Iron Gloss is not all that high compared to make high end sealants although it is perhaps in a difficult area - it isn't as costly as the super super sealant but a lot than the polymer type sealants. Maybe the trouble with it is that there isnt a market against which to compare.

You do have to remember that Dodo is a british brand, potentially 3rd party manufactured with a high marketing budget and you then have to add the costs of another middleman doing the US distribution. If it wasn't expensive you can guarantee the products would be really cheap and crude.

Supernatural wax still v popular, but overtaken in popularity by Supernatral Hybrid – winner of Detailing World's Best Wax and Best Sealant in 2012.

Yes we are a British brand, however, our bespoke products are developed and manufactured by the Dodo – not generic ‘white label’ stuff. It IS pricey in US, due to importation (freight, customs etc.) BUT we do a lot of concentrates… Born to be Mild wash is 9x more concentrated than one particular wash, and generally 4x more concentrated than standard washes…. Costs would be more if we diluted them to standard industry strengths.

When you look at the 30ml pots of wax, it might not look like alot - but you should also know that you can use just one to give an average European 5 door saloon (Volvo V40) over 6 layers when applied by hand. with 2 layers on the paint you will get 2-3 months of protection with good maintenance, giving up to 9 months of protection. the key is to remember that simply thin and consistant coverage is all that is needed. if too much is applied then it will just be buffed off after the curing process (and some will inevitably be wasted).

DoDo,

I have the Light Fantastic and Banana Armour pots. Are you saying I'm only going to get about a month of protection with just one layer? How about the Iron Gloss about how many months of protection? What about Basics of Bling Protection Wax? Should I only use Red Mist over Iron Gloss? Also, I was told that I should not put Iron Gloss over Need For Speed or Lime Prime, is this true? Iron Gloss should only be put over Micro Prime, right?

the reason for doing 2 layers is so that you minimise the chances of leaving an unwaxed area. both LF and BA will give you 2-3 months protection when applied with a consistant coating, allowed to haze and buffed off with a clean microfibre.

with good maintenance you will get 6months to a year of protection.

with good maintenance you will get 3-5 months of protection.

i am not sure if you mean by this question. you can use Red Mist over Iron Gloss as long as the IG has been applied, allowed to cure and given 24 hours before Red Mist application. if you mean something else please let me know.

this is the best for Iron Gloss. the reason is the glazing oils in NFS and LP will detract from IG's ability to bond properly to the paint. there are less glazing oils in Micro Prime so it will leave a better surface to bond with, but i would recommend doing a wipe down to remove anything on the paint before applying the IG.

Sorry about the confusion on the Red Mist. Should Red Mist only be used over Iron Gloss as an Quick Detailer after a couple of days? Can you use Red Mist over the waxes as a QD?

So, after putting down the Micro Prime, I should QD it with Basics of Bling QD, then put down the Iron Gloss?

Thanks for the info.
