Dodge SRT Demon Announced

Well if they are switching to Alpha Romeo chassis`s then they`ll have two rust out issues to address! :lmfao:lmfao

Just kidding, of course, Alpha Romeo isn`t what they used to be. I`m excited to see what the Demon will be, and the price!

the newest grand tour has a nice piece from Clarkson on the new Alpha fancy sedan...that`s a pretty funny episode

Forget metallic get straight black

nah...I like the metallic flake....not that I couldn`t maintain a pitch black vehicle, I just simply don`t want one... I don`t think I`ll ever buy another colored vehicle that is not metallic

Yea I saw that one. The sedan is pretty slick, though Jeremy was not favorable toward it after driving it around. That`s the one that Richard had the new MX-5 ( I think), if they`d put a turbo on it I would buy that car yesterday.

I want to know just how much more they can do with the Demon without breaking $100,000. (I assume they are keeping it under $100k)

personally I`d settle for a 392 scat pack shaker with the AWD setup they are potentially building...as im sure this deamon will msrp in the high 70s or so with my luck, putting it out of my foreseeable future

I guess today`s Turbos have the whole "lag" thing pretty well sorted out, and yeah I`ve enjoyed quite a few over the years, but I dunno if that`d be the ticket on a car like this.

Agreed. Car like this needs supercharging or just good `ol cubic inches.

Or both.

whoops trying to quote not thank..anyways

this info came from someone who literally works on the Hellcat/demon team, just sayin

maybe they`re fibbing a lil but the 707 # for hellcats was the understatement of 2016, most hellcats dyno close to 700 at the wheel

with e85 conversion I have two buddies running 965 and 985 rwhp

Wow, 965 & 985 those are insane numbers. Have you driven either? What do they run the 1/4 mile in?

Never heard the Hellcats were fibbing their numbers the wrong way:) the anti-VW method of car business.

those engine`s have forged internals and are pretty tuned down from the factory from what I have heard

change a couple of pulleys and injectors and whatever else they do to run it on e85 and people are running mid 900 rwhp dyno numbers

pretty insane...doesn`t seem safe to drive, lol- those guys don`t track their cars. they probably never even get on them that much because id imagine it would be quite dangerous

My car doesn`t even have 400 at the wheel and I cant even get very high into my rpm band without whipping the tail end out and I`m running a pair of 305 mickey Thompsons on the rear end, a stock hellcat comes with 275 Pirelli smoke bombs

my buddy has a stock hellcat challenger with a driveshaft and mickey Thompson drag radials and he ran 10.83 recently as his personal best. that`s the fastest hellcat I`ve seen in person. most of the hellcats at lone star mopar fest last august were not running that good of a time because they were spinning badly off the line

if you can run an 11.00-11.5, heck in most cases if you can run under 12.00, lol... you can beat pretty much every stock hellcat on a drag strip because there are more people who can afford to buy nice fast cars than there are who know how to drive them, lol

512detail- IMO a whole lot of the HP wars end up just being bench-racing bragging rights for most owners. The power levels get beyond what the tires/platform/driver can handle IRL.

And, noting my goofy-conservative sensibilities, the black plastic aero-aids on that car look utterly atrocious to me, wouldn`t be caught dead in it. Probably would`ve loved it 40 years ago though.

agree. the rear diffuser is a little funny looking...BUT, take my SRT up to 140 and you`ll wish you had it, lol

Heh heh, I bet your SRT is still better up there than my sedans by a pretty wide margin ;)

Honestly, I`d rather have something that I liked looking at even if it meant I had to keep the top speed reasonable. But then I don`t do the Silver State/etc. thing either.

Eh, my last `vette and the Porsches were all nice and stable at [I won`t say how fast] and they still looked nice.

yea I used to see the back end of my speedo when I was a younger, more silly fellow...now I rarely see it past Back To The Future Delorean time traveling speeds

never knew what aero lift was until I bought this car, lol

In my neck of the woods, triple-digits = car impounded/driver into custody. Guess how Autopian a car is by the time you get it back from the impound yard ;) That`d bug me a lot more than a few hours in the can.

the toll road is 85 here.. and its a couple miles from my house

you can see some people breaking many laws out there ,lol

not me though....85 is a nice calm whine for my SRT and fast enough to drive legally that I am satisfied

Do they let you off with just a citation for anything under 104? I could live with that most of the time.

Yeah, different vehicles/people have different, uhm...natural rythm speeds...where everything just seems right. 85 is about perfect for me in the Tahoe, can`t recall taking it higher since forever.

I think texas law is 24 over but not to exceed 95 for potential for wreckless driving..but that was a while back last time I checked

Haven`t gotten any tickets in my SRT and I`ve had it since 2009

Huh, that 95 limit for Officer`s Discretion would`ve bitten Accumulatorette, she skated with merely a (written lower no less) citation for 96/60 once! But at triple-digits you`re getting hooked up here, period. Wish I knew what the rules were for WVA, might oughta look into that sometime. Credit where credit is due- WVA HP troopers are always *really* nice, write tickets down to nearly-nothing and have even told me "you`re clear to the end of the turnpike, I`m the last radar until the tollboth".

And yeah, I haven`t gotten cited for years either, just warnings, and the last guy who did write me up actually apologized (he was the "chase car" in a laser trap where they were trying out their new toy, said he would`ve just given me a warning but it was already in the system).

Now that we`ve taken this way off-topic (yeah, again, I`m bad :o ) it just goes to show how people who buy cars like Hellcats *and who don`t track them* aren`t buying the actual performance in the sense of actually using/needing it, huh? No, no...I`m not being critical at all! Just saying...

Oh yeah for sure around here I always say a hellcat is useless unless you just want to say you have one. 35 mph speed limits and round about.
