Do You Wash After Polish???

I have found after using compounds or Menz PF I get alot of dust. Do you guys continue your detail (glaze, wax, etc.) and re-wash the vehicle to get the dust and any left over splatter off the car?

Just kind of curious what everyone else is doing....

I wash after compounding, then wash after polishing. If I'm using the System One Polish product, I wash after the combined use (compounding/polishing). The purpose is to remove excess product from body seams and also dust.

I was after I am done with all the polishing, before sealing. I am mostly using a heavy alkalie or Allbrites cherry foam via foam gun (1:32 or 1:64)

I'm surprised to see how many people do this. I always thought that blowing it off with my vacuum and wiping with IPA was good enough.

It might be. I used to do the same thing; but over time I realized I was saving time re-washing. I found that removing the oils from polishes like 106ff or HTHC was almost very difficult with just an mf, or even an mf with isa:water. So now I use prep was and it strips all the oils off the paint, and any residue I've left behind from gaps, jambs, etc. I'm not sure one way or the other is "better", but re-washing for me is faster.

I use it in water, like a wash. I put in 1oz per two gallons, so usually 2oz in my bucket. I have some in a sprayer, but don't use it a lot.

I rewash with ONR sometimes. Its fast and easy, it also is a good way to get sling off. I keep bucket out with me while polishing.

I used to just wipe a car down quickly with a MF and sometimes QD after polishing. But after having some bonding and streaking issues with LSP's, I now wipe with IPA/water, or sometimes give the car a wash.

I first noticed the issue with Opti-Seal. I thought it was OS that streaked, until I tried it on a car where the hood had been wiped with IPA, and I noticed the streaking was only on the parts not wiped with IPA. But it seems OS actually bonds ok even with oils left after polishing, it's like the oils just moves to the top of OS. It was worse with e.g. DG105, a few times it was like this sealant wouldn't cure, and when wiped off would just smear. But after wiping with IPA or washing, I haven't had issues with any LSP.

I use ONR a lot in the winter when the temps are so cold, a pressure wash isn't possible. Seems there is enough lubricity to safely remove any abrasive compound grit and allow me to go on to the next step.
