For example, Turtle Wax's new web page contains lots of wrong information.

Do you trust such a company?

Below is TurtleWax example.

Platinum Series Ultra Gloss liquid and pase wax page contains description of ICE Liquid Polish:

Completely clear formula will not leave any white residue on exterior plastic and rubber trim.

Can be applied in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces without streaking.

Platinum Series Ultra Wet Tire Shine page contains description of Wheel and Tire cleaner:

Turtle Wax understands the importance of keeping rims sparkling and designed its new wheel cleaner with that in mind. The spray on gel formula cuts through brake dust and road grime, while a unique polymer additive acts as a soil barrier, preventing accumulation, and making the wheels easier to clean in the future.

One Step Color Back® paint restorer contains description of one of their car wash:

run off the car's finish...virtually drying itself.

(exactly the same phrase is on their car wash Zip Wax® Self Drying Wash ‘n Waxâ„¢ page)

Turtle Wax web page is made by someone who cannot distingish cleaner wax and car wash, who does not know their own products?

I sent Turtle Wax an email, and the reply claimed that each product page contains description of the correct product.

NO.

I HATE looking at someones site they have on their business card and it looks like something that was made in 1993. It costs a little over 60 bucks to buy a basic professional looking website, what have random back ground (tiled I might add) and firetext?

But your right, I would be much less likely to buy a tutle wax product because of their errors.

I buy a lot of ChemicalGuys products (well, usually from Danase' which has a good website) and the CG website is awful. I normally wouldn't trust them, but with the recommendation from forum members I discovered a good brand with great prices.

I guess it depends on who it is really. I mean, just because they can't set up a stellar or perfect web space, doesn't mean the products don't work or work great. I really really like Turtle Wax UltraBrite tire/wheel cleaner for how effective it is, and their website had nothing to do with my decision to purchase that particular product, and I will buy it again.

On the other hand, if I am looking to buy something, I nearly ALWAYS check out the seller as much as possible. They may have poor web skills, but offer great products. If I think the seller is shady, or the website unsafe to shop, then I won't. I am certainly not a perfect person, and while I do like high professionalism, I can't demand absolute perfection all the time, because there isn't anyone around that can deliver.

Also, some smaller companies may not have much of a budget for IT, or marketing, and therefore can't afford a to hire someone for a fancy website. Again, lack of marketing dollars doesn't mean the products aren't any good. Just depends really on who it is, at least for me.

Quality of website isn't my deciding factor, but if it looks like a 8th grader made it in computer class, then I'm definitely going to have reservations. It blows my mind how many business websites have 8 different types of fonts and a million flashing colors and banners...drives me nuts!

I know it's a naive attitude and mind set, but I tend to shy away from web sites with huge errors. My rationale is if they don't care enough about their website, their 'window to the world' as it were, they won't care enough about me, a potential customer.

I had a look at one last night - 'World's Best Wax'. A Canadian site. Their best carnauba wax, the Connoisseur version had a 4 sentence descriptor. 2 errors in the first sentence, 6 in the second, 2 in the third, and 1 in the 4th.

I just didn't end up with a whole lot of confidence in the prospective service or product.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with a couple of typos here and there, even though I nevr make any myself.

See I can't even type correctly myself. Duragloss web site is NOT one of the best but they sure have some dang good products.

I LOEV IT!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.

It just seemed so appropriate, so perfect, so topical, so Machiavellian in concept and happenstance. I actually made myself giggle like a little schoolgirl with that one.

I tend to buy from sites that have information about there products so that I can read about them. and that it makes some sence. Ones that have secure icons and I feel safe put the CC out there

The plain ones or the ones that have flashing light links and moving crap every direction I tend to aviod

I tend to be a little less "thrilled" with amateurish sites. As previously mentioned, if they don't care about the details of the first impression, why should I think they'll care any more about details/appearances elsewhere?

However, as beemerboy1 said, too busy isn't good either.

I also try to contact them to see what kind of response time/professionalism they have.

If this goes well enough, I may even try to help them better their site. (Doesn't always work, mind you...)

Not really. If they have no phone number for issue, no order.

Now I go by there service and price, not looks.

Only buy from 4 sites now. Danase, CG, JW and WTC. (detail wise)

TW web site was totally updated recently, and it "appears" to be made by an IT professional.

But the text content is wrong in many places. The web designer is not responsible for such error.

I think "reputable" companies usually have the resources to have a website developed that atleast conveys some level of professionalism. So, generally I won't risk handing out CC numbers to a site unless it looks like the company actually cares how they're portrayed.

Exceptions include sites suggested by friends etc.

I have to admit that how a website is often effects how I judge the products. But that's not always the case because Clearkote doesn't have the fanciest website, yet I love their stuff.

My favorite website style-wise would have to be Jeff's Werkstatt--very slick and fun to navigate around in. It's great that Jeff also has excellent products to go along with it.

In general, I think I'd be more disturbed by text errors or incorrect descriptions than not having the best layout or fancy graphics.

What's up with menzerna web site..You can't even order from them, but there products are superb. Same as prestaproducts also, a company that is worth millions and can't even order from them. Have to do it the old fashioned way and call...where is my rotory phone.
