Do you QD after?

cool thanks for that tip. ok i guess i should focus my question a bit more. would QD after polish be SAFE or would i just be marring up my paint again?

I use #34, but Totoland Mach has been getting great results with ONR too. Using these product to help remove the dust seems to *reduce* the incidnece of marring, especially when you're dealing with aggressive products...residual polish residue can cause micromarring even when the product was properly broken down.

I even use the #34 with H-T EC and OP, even though, as noted, they're not really high-dust products.

yenwen- Regarding the ones in my post:

#34 = Meguiar's #34 Final Inspection

H-T EC = Hi-Temp's Extreme Cut Leveler

ONR = Optimum's No Rinse (wash)

OP = Optimum's Polish

Won't a wipe down with isopropyl alchohol work just as good as a wash??

Depends what you're trying to accomplish. IPA doesn't have much lubricity, which might matter/not depending on what you're doing.

yenwen- H-T EC is a rather aggressive abrasive polish. No Rinse washes are, as the name implies, carwash shampoos that are wiped off rather than *rinsed* off; the most common ones are Optimums No Rinse and a product called Quick and Easy Wash ("QEW").

I'm no expert on OTC stuff...I'd go to an autobody/paint supply place and get the Meg's #34; pro stuff is OTC at those kind of stores. Check the yellow pages.

I just cover all my windows and front dowel by the front window with towels. The rest of the dust on the car can be wiped clean with a MF towel...

That's what all of us using the QD/rinseless wash for this used to think ;) Totoland Mach and I have both noticed a decrease in micromarring since we started using this "wet" dust removal approach, but that could just be a matter of the abrasives we're using.

But yeah, I too cover areas with towels; it's a great way to keep stuff off of places where you don't want it.

So this weekend i'm going to detail my friends car. I was planning on using the klasse sealing glaze what can i use under it? since i don't have the klasse AIO. This is what i have

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax

Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover

Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish

S100 Pure Carnauba wax

PB 2.5 and 1

If I'm using a product that dusts a bit, I'll just quick detail the car, but if I'm using a heavy dusting product, I'll go ahead and quickly rewash the car and then do my finishing polish, followed up by the wax or sealant.

I'd said use the pinnacle finishing polish, followed by KSG and topped with either liquid souveran or S100

yea but all of the corrective products dust. So is washing the best solution since? I live in an apt so it's not easy for me to wash my car.

You are 100% correct. I use 3M Fine Cut and/or Machine Glaze and it dusts like a mother f'er - but it works incredibly well.

I do usually wash after since the particles are under the wipers, in all the grooves, at the bottom of the window, etc. I don't use soap though, just a thorough rinse. The paint just sheets and beads water even after polish so its easy.

Isn't Optimum Polish a corrective product? It doesn't dust.
