Do you leave your windows open?

Do you guys leave your windows open/ cracked when you leave your car somewhere?

Whether it be in a garage or not I always leave them cracked. I smoke cigs in there (I know) and people ALWAYS tell me how my car smells like brand new.

My other question is, would this be a good tip to tell my customers after cleaning their cars? I'm thinking about including this on a tip sheet on how to keep their cars as clean as possible and giving it to them.

Thanks

In the summer or when it's above 50, I ALWAYS leave em cracked. My car doesn't smell much like anything other than fresh. I'm not huge on overpowering air freshners so this seems to work fine accompanied with a Yankee Candle Leather Car Jar.

The problem though is dust *can* get in. I leave mine cracked ever so slightly so make sure you point that out.

Much of the dust you see accumulating in your car is caused by dead skin cells from your body, so dust will get in your car whether you have your windows open or not. You will likely get more dust in your car if you have the windows open though.

I leave mine cracked most of the time in hot weather. I try to find a shaded area instead though. Sometimes I'll open the sunroof a couple inches instead and that will allow the built-up heat to escape, and it's less noticeable to others than open windows.

I leave 'em cracked just a bit, it's tough to tickle the PW switch just right but it's worth cracking them to allow the 125*+ heat to escape.

Kids & pets have died in buttoned-up tight cars and once I left an apple on my front seat that turned brown in the heat ... it was too hot to pick-up and it actually BAKED. Made the car smell like an apple pie for days.

Guys in my car club in the 80's lost windshields (cracking) and a few lost side glass (shattered) so leave 'em open about a 1/16". On my Accord a 16th is almost unnoticeable unless you're standing right next to the car ..... which is always parked w-a-a-a-a-y out in the parking lot & there's never any shade out there.

I don't crack my windows because I live in the land of afternoon thunderstorms. I am worried about water getting inside. I just use a sunshade for the windshield.

I kno most cars dont have it. But I pop my sunroof up. The back edge opens up about 1/2-1inch.
I use that religiously, too. Even when rain comes unexpectedly, it doesn't get in.

I'm always hesitant to leave my windows open at any time. To me, a freshly detailed car with its windows open is always an invitation for some punks to do some mischief.

However, during the really warm summer months, I will use the tilt feature on my sunroof. The space between the car roof and the sunroof is so small that it allows air to pass through without letting rain (or people) in.

I don't because doing so inevitably leads to that highly annoying line on your glass that often a simple wipe with a glass cleaner will not remove . Oddly enough they don't seem to appear with sunroofs :dunno
