Im with blackcaraddict, a well detailed black car is in a league of its own. While you can get silver to look nice, is isn't, and never will be black.
Under sunlight the car looks well above average. Its bugs me cos *I* know the marring is there, even though others are dumbfounded as to why Im not happy with it.
:Sigh: Only a true Autopian knows what I mean, thats why I feel so at home here!
Black is leaps and bounds better than any other color. The only problem is that lasts about as long as that first drive. Then it's back to earth.
My brother asked me why I'm so obsessed with getting the paint perfect... no one else notices. I said, I'm not getting it perfect by any means! You should see some of the cars online! :bounce All I was trying to do was get rid of the swirls and minor scratches... lol
Pictures on the net don't always show the real story.I can take a pic. in the bright sun and it will look good and chances are you won't see some of the marring that I know is there.
Yeah, washing a car without marring it is something that I've spent many years trying to perfect.
It's really all just a matter of not pressing anything abrasive into the paint hard enough to mar it. A "normal guy" could do it *if* he started with a well-prepped car and never made one wrong move while washing and drying. But I guess that would make him *not* normal It's pretty nerve-wracking work and I really don't think I'm gonna be *that* careful in the future. It's a lot more fun to just *use* the cars and not obsess over their cosmetics.
I truly sympathize with those who are bugged by stuff that others don't see. Because silver is so hard to see micromarring on, I probably spent as much time *inspecting* the S8 as I did polishing it this last time. I was definitely removing stuff that nobody else would've ever seen, but then it's not about other people, huh?
