Do you guys use a PC or roarty machine when removing swirls from pillars?

A lot of cars have swrirls all over including on the pillars by the front and rear windshield and I was wondering if you guys used a rotary or PC to remove the swirls-I have been kind of hesitant here since there is not a lot of paint (width wise) to work with compared to the size of the polishing pad so it might grab.

Yeah 4" pads help with narrow spots like that. I've used them (and 7" pads too) on pillars lots of times.

Do you have a Volkswagen Thing? If so, PLEASE post pics! I can safely say that it would be the first shiny Thing I've ever seen. :xyxthumbs

I have some 6.5" LC CCS pads, PC and XMT on the way. Any tips, other than taping, when doing pillars?

The PC cannot get here soon enough!

I used my PC with OC on my carbon fiver b-pillars to get the scratches out of the clear coat. They shined up like crazy as well.

You can also do them by hand after you are finished the rest of the car, and use the foam pad right off the PC. This is what I do sometimes.

Sometimes I'll tilt the rotary so that a limited portion of pad works those small areas...but I *always* have to follow up with the PC as that's...uhm..not the optimal way to use a rotary polisher and the finish I get is far from perfect :o Nice to knock out the worst of the marring quickly though.
