It takes a few seconds to pop it out, then you leave it out on the lid (re-applying when necessary) until you are finished...but to each his own.
 
A lot of times I find that when waxing with the PC I can't get into all of the tight areas that I can with just a foam hand applicator. I spend more time dragging the cord around and making sure there aren't any spots that I might have missed with the PC than it takes to do the car by hand. I hold wax in left hand, pad in right, and then just get down with the get down.
 
Why can't somone do a test to see which way of applying wax is better? Do 1/2 of a hood each way and report back in a month. See which one lasts longer.

I agree with Thomas. Why don't you turn just the container upside down and hold it? I use this technique with all my pastes which have an appropriate container (without inner lip) and it works great and no worries! I started this method with NXT Paste and never looked back.
