Do some of you wax the inside frame of doors ?

Oh yes, multiple coats of Klasse SG, will top with Souveran :D. These fine details are the parts of detailing I enjoy quite a bit. I've been know to put some sealant on undercarriage surfaces too!

I usually just use a spray wax on my door jambs. I used Meguiar's #20 once and it actually stained in some places. I've still got orange and yellow stains that won't come out. that is my fault though. I have waxed them before and they look good. That part is really impressive to be shined up and cleaned at any show where your doors are open. I've got pictures of mine all shined up somewhere around here. you all know what clean door jambs look like anyway.

Incidentally, does anyone have a link to some real good diagrams of bodyparts, as I'd like to get more familiar with those ?

Thanks :)

Check out Playboy :lmfao
Actually, stop by a local body shop. They might have some old repair manuals they could give you. Or do a search on the internet for car body parts.
Sorry, couldn't resist the first line!

I see little reason to wax the inside of the door frames so I just use a QD to make sure they're clean.

You're missing the icing on the cake! Waxing the jambs clearly separates the perfectionists from the average Joes. I find that waxing this area sets my car apart from the others and definately shows the attention to the "details".

Using a QD is fine in all respects, but if you really want your car to look great then take the extra few seconds and put a light coat of wax or sealant in the door jambs.

I wax themwhen I do a full detail, or if it comes to my mind. I use regular Moose Wax, but any one-step product would work fine. Enough stufff (snow salt, small children) gets stuck up in there, so you might as well protect it.

Door Jambs - high pressure wash - dry - paint correction if necessary such as 4 * UPC then Hand Glaze and a layer of sealant. SWEET

This pic by the way has not been digitally enhanced.

Doors jambs are easy spot to clean, but do some of you bother to do the hinge area ?:) I guess this is going too far and what's more one may not want to take the protection off that area, if living where winter hits hard.
I will do all the areas that I can reach(even hinge areas)
I am waiting for the time when I crush my finger because i'm moving the door so I can get to hard to reach spots (not yet but I'm sure I will)

I wax the door jams maybe 2x a year (spring and fall) and I QD them everytime I wash.I use WD-40 to lube the hindges a few times a year

In addition to the door jamb areas that I mentioned, I erred by not including the following for waxing/protecting:

the trough around the trunk lid gasket (trunk jamb??)
the gas lid door
the area around the sunroof if so equipped
the area around any concealed headlights if so equipped
the trough under the hood near the hood supports and windshield wiper valley

It's the small things that make a difference and they're easy areas to maintain once the "grunt level" cleaning work is initially done.

I guess I'm not doing enough. No actually I do them twice a year. IMO it looks like crap when your car is polished to the tee, and you open the door and see a crapy looking jamb IMHO.

Doesn't everybody?:)

Just a little tip for cleaning the hinge areas.
Take a 2" paint brush, wrap some tape around the metal portions so you don't scratch anything, then use it to reach those areas that are not easy to get to. Works good with any liquid product.

guess that's why it's called "detailing".

Every time you enter/exit your car you'll see some portion of the door jamb & if it needs a quick wipe ... well ... that's what the extra MF towels are for behind the seat.

Definitely wash, dry, and protect the door jamb areas & upkeep will be minimal.

Personally, I like checking-out the door jambs everytime I get in the car & seeing them almost concours-quality prepped is satisfying 'cause it's just one more thing that defines me as the most anal person on my block.

Sometimes, I think I "imagine" dust where none exists.

Mother's Quick Detailer spray or Meguiars Final Inspection on the
hinges, and then either some PWC or TOL Snap Seal on the frames.
I usually defer to the TOL most of the time since it does a nice job
of cleaning up the gunk, while leaving something behind for shine.
PWC works well also, but I prefer to use it on the panels primarily.

Something else in the same area of attention

The door seals on my GM vehicles have an accordian type of construction. Just one flex area, but that one flex area will catch a lot of sand and crud. If it is not removed, it seems likely that it will wear on the door seal. Kind of like the way the dirt wears out carpet. A detail brush and some type of cleaner will usually take care of it.
Since I am one of those individuals that may keep a vehicle any where from 60 days to 16 years, actually wearing things out is something I am pretty conscious of.
