I just got my 5 White MF towels from Neat Items. Very plush and no lint. I noticed one side is more plush (fuzzy) while the other is less plush (more 'woven'). Is this woven side more for applying product and the 'more' plush for removal ? I thought I saw a note on this once but could not re-locate.



FYI - I found that I could 'rip' the tag of the Viper MF towels. When I tried this with the Neat Items towel it started to tear the seam - so I tediously cut it out with my Swiss Army Knife. Why do the put tags on these things !

It is all personal preference what you use each side for but I would only recommend using the non-plush side of the towel when your car is very clean and dust-free as it does not have the pile to "suck in" any particulate matter.

Yes, my Neatitems towel ripped a bit as well when I pulled the tag off. Does anyone else have solutions to this? I should be fine cutting it off because I don't let the edges touch my paint, but it's still annoying.
 
Evil, EVIL tags! :mad: . . . I got my neatitems shipment as well, and was unable to get even one tag off perfectly cleanly. The first several I tried to gently pull off (failing miserably, and tearing the serging on each), and the rest I cut the tag off then tried to remove the remainder of the tag from the serging using a pin to work it out from between the threads.



I have the same problem with tags on Viking cotton chenille was mits . . . the tag is quite strong (stronger than the seam that holds it on, so tearing it off damages the cuff), and the stitching that holds the tag is hidden in the seam of the elastic cuff, and a real pain to try to cut out cleanly.



Why do manufacturers do this!? It seems obvious to me that the tag should be made of a fabric much weaker than the stitching that secures it, so it may be easily torn off. Or, the tag should be secured not by stitching, but by adhesive, or a pin, or one of those little plastic price-tag widgets . . . ANYTHING that is easy to remove without damaging the product.

Well lets see tags are required by law, that's just the way it is, like for people that might be allergic to the fabric.



Now the problem is not all distributers have tags on their stuff, but the seller still need to sell, tag or not. hmmm :)]



To answer your question, it doesn't really matter which side you use when removing wax haze or applying quickdetailer IFF (if and only if) your car is clean, if it isn't exactly clean then you should use the plusher side so that the debris has a place to escape. A lot of times with Klasse I find it easier to use the non-plush side.

I'm not advocating "no tag" (and I understand there's always the heavy hand of regulation to be considered); I just want something that's easy to remove if desired, and that won't damage the product in the process . . .

I'd be happy with a gelatin-based tag that just melted away with the first wash :D

Has nothing to do with the quality of the towel; has to do with how tightly the tag is sewn on. The Neatitems towels are great quality even if ripping off the tag tears up the seam.



The tags on the Euroshine towels are nearly impossible to remove without cutting them off and the tags on the Turtle Wax MFs come off quite easily. But that says nothing about their quality.

yes it doesn't mean you base a towel soley upon its seam but it is included, especially if it's seam that scratches easily



that bmw has really bad quality trim on the doors, I don't think so
 
As mentioned above, tags are required by law. I seriously doubt that the manufacturers for most micro fiber towels are expecting the users to rip the tags off. We never worry about removing the tags on any of the mf towels that we use for anything other than the cars finishes.
 
Sorry for the resurrect but this is a problem with the neatitems towels I got as well. Does anyone have a good method of removing these tags? I like the pin idea Tort had and will try that but I would like to hear what others do..

But how well do the tags pass the CD scratch test? ;)
 
I removed a tag without any damage to the seam! Here's what I did:



Hold the towel in 1 hand and the tag in the other. Pull straight out on the tag, gently at first, and work it back and forth a bit. If anything tears you're doing it way too hard! Keep doing this until you can see the holes from where the thread is (try looking from the bottom of the tag, it's easier).



The point of this is to be able to cut off the tag at the threads. You have to cut off the tag at the thread holes so that you can remove the bottom portion. After you have cut it off you can work out the bottom part of the tag with either a pin or your fingers. It just pulls right out if you cut right..

Steve, I have no doubt that the quality of your towels are first-rate and are plusher than the neatitems. But the neatitems towels are very nice too. The fact that the tags don't rip off easily has more to do with the way they are stitched than the quality of the towel. After messing up the previous towel when pulling the tag, I looked at the tag stitching carefully and it was obvious that they are stitched differently than the Vipers and MTs.

BTW, puterbum, those neatitems towels are terrific! No lint whatsoever. I can't believe I've only been using Vipers up to now!!
 
I knew I should have bought stock options with Neatitems when I first tried these towels a ways back. Its good to see that most, if not everyone, who uses them really like them. Laters
 
Just finished up adding a layer of BFWD to my 2003 Silver Birch Mercury Marauder. In all I ONLY used 1/2 oz of BFWD to cover the vehicle, less wheels. This was the old pre-PC polish. I measured out 1 1/2 oz in the PC bottle, added my own CH2 PC and applied with my FLEX DA and a blue pad. Need to find another project tomorrow to use up the remainder. I think a little recognition is due!
