You guys never read my threads
mad
so I'll just get to the nitty gritty for those who can benefit.
Here is my rig.
Initial Thoughts
- Moves more air than most Honeywell units I've bought
- I can pick what type of filter to use. I'm going to stick with a minimum of MERV 11 filters. I think 3M has purple ultra-pleated 1600 filters that can be used as well.
- You can easily attach a cheap sheet of absorbent carbon before the filter to remove odors. I have never needed one.
- Finding replacement filters is very easy.
- This gets around the guilt of putting a restrictive filter into the air handler and worrying about the fan burning out.
Will update with results in about a week.

- My allergies are really bad year-round. HEPA filters typically work, but there is too much trouble picking/buying one.
- I looked online for a DIY HEPA filter. I found this page: Box Fan Air Filter Air Cleaner
- It is basically a MERV 11 filter + 20" box fan. I was able to find both at Wal-Mart for less than $30. ($12 Boxfan + $12.88 3M MERV 11)
