Disintegrating foam applicators!!!

I have a bottle of AA Extreme Shine Tire Gel. I love the stuff!!!:rockon Only one problem...after about 5 uses of the included foam applicator, its starts falling apart. I store the applicator in a ziploc bag after I'm done because the gel gets everywhere if you just leave it lying around. Does anyone know why it does this or have any idea how to make it last longer than 5 uses? I have more than half a bottle left with no applicator.

I found some applicators at a doller store and the same thing happend Its a cheap applicator lol they got to make money some how. Try using a foam paint brush i think you will like it better because you have more control with the foam brush. And you can vary the size of the brush depending on sidewall width.

As for making it last longer you could try to dab it on everywhere instead of wiping and just do one light wipe to even it out.

Sounds great! I'm going to try that. It might be a new tool in the arsenal. Lol! But i still wonder why it disintegrates? Oh well! Thanks!

Try using a sponge instead of foam...the one that I use for tires is a masonry grout sponge...can be found at any home depot type of store...They are natural sea sponges. The one that I have will last one season easy, then I toss it because its pretty nasty

I am sorry, but I am not familiar with AA Extreme Shine Tire Gel. Is it petroleum based? I have some tire gels / dressings that will destroy an applicator in no time. My best guess is that the petroleum based products do not play well with foam, especially the cheap applicators. Eats them for lunch if you will. :rofl My experience has been that the water based products aren't nearly as rough on applicators.

Maybe this is why some shy away from petroleum based dressings. Could damage also be occuring to the applied surface?

As Pockets mentioned, I believe technique can play a big part in the process also. A light touch combined with a foam brush or even a palm-sized pump applicator (find them in the housewares section) works for me when I stray from water based dressings.

Hope this helps.
