So I was a retard and didn't wash my pads immediately after detailling.. I threw them in some pad cleaning solution a few days after and now all the crap that was in the pads hasn't come off.. most of it has.. but the pad is still discolored from all the junk... any recommendations on how to clean it up or if I need to get new pads now... :furious:

just a suggestion but you might want to let us know what brand are the pad and type of pad and what you used(prouduct) on the pad, what type of paint(ss-bc) and last but not least what method of cleaning(what solution)

for example meguiars does not recommend washing there pads but most will wash it anyways while others will allow the product to dry on the pad either method is fine for me and i do both...

some will hand wash there pad with dawn...there are many method or u can buy a specfic cleaner for the pad..like they say whatever floats your boat...also there are some products or junk that will stain the pad and will not come off completely so as long as you give it a clean through wash you should be fine....again always follow manuf. recom. or else will void warranty if any

by the way i dont know if you work on a ss or a bc with tint in the clear paint but that at times will stain and not come off, but no worries like i said clean it well and treat it like the others...

Some chemical will stain your pad.....forever.

I use Pinnacle's XMT Pad Cleaner. Works well. You can let them sit in a Woolite mix for about an hour and rinse with warm water too.

I use one cap full for a five gallon bucket. I like to stick my pressure washer down inside to agitate.

I've had my Edge pads for 4 months now and use them 3 times a week still!

Thanks for that! They are wolfgang pads and I used SSR 2,1, PBs EX-p, and NXT tech wax on the pads.. I really waited a while to clean them and I used a Snappy Clean powder packet and roughly 3 gallons of water and threw them all in there for a week...

i let them sit and soak in some dawn ( or equivalent ) water,

if there's still product residue on there, i apply the dawn to the pad and rub it in my hand.

I received my foam pad conditioning brush from AutoGeek yesterday and I believe I'm using it incorrectly. I had the PC at speed 6 upside down, but the brush seem to slightly rip apart my Meguiars finishing pad, mainly in the center.

Is there a technique to using this brush? Can you only use it when the pad is dry? Do you guys think the pad is still usable if just a little bit of its center is gone?

Also, when exactly do most of you decide to throw away or move on to another pad?

Thanks for all the help, this forum has been EXTREMELY helpful with TONS of info. I'm still overwhelmed with all the product acronyms though :(
