dirt stained aluminum

I have an 08 jeep wrangler, after some offroading my engine block and heads got really muddy. I tried quickly washing the engine with soap and water a few hours after but it didn't work. Now the aluminum is stained tan. I tried some gunk and rewashing but it still is discolored. I'm gonna see if I can find some cd2 to try but wondering if there is some trick to getting the tan discoloration out of aluminum?
 
1st off start with a cold engine
1)bucket of dawn
2)tire brush & mit(to get into tight spots)
3)APC (Purple Power) Full Strenth

mist the area with water, then spray APC generously onto the area you desire(you should see the dirt running out of the pores)get your brush/mit and geta scrubing. Do not let APC/Soap dry or it will seep back into pores.When you are rinsing use the "Mist" option on your sprayer and keep it close to surface. And move fast.:rockon

This aluminum is it polished?

Reason is that the purple power can stain that if sprayed on direct in some cases...just about any strong APC will stain aluminum. It can be polished out with no problem using something like PB PP or a good paint cleaner..just an FYI is all

I see your point Beemer. But I've Never had a Problem wih Purple Power...Simple Green on the other hand will do some Freaky Stuff to Aluminum.
Try not to work on it when the Engine is "HOT" :rockon

I guess my FYI was more of a general statement in regards to aluminum and APC...I tend to water them down a bit for almost all applications..its easier to increase the strength if needed.

And never on a hot engine that's just asking for to much trouble!

Your right....You should start with a 50/50 mix. Will probally work just fine. And you will have twice the product..:bigups
 
Gordon, you have mentioned Dawn and Simple Green in the same thread. Kudos to you, my friend.

I am heading to my fallout bunker. See you all in ten or twenty years. :D Haha!
