i moved to texas and now live on a dirt road and its really pissing me off. i have a black mustang gt. i drive real slow on the road but the car still picks up dust like no other. is there anything i can do to help the dust not stick? any products that i can start using that will repel dust or not show as much? this is driving my crazy!!!
 
I think pretty much all you can do is suck it up, I have tried about 10 different waxes and QDs so far, and from my failures at least I now know that Megs UQD is the best way to get dust to stick ;)



I think it is pretty much inevitable for that to happen. On the upside, you get to clean your car more! ;)
 
i figured there was really nothing i could do. i guess its more of a rant than anything. it just sucks... if anyone tries something and it really helps send me a pm or something.......... this sucks lol
 
I just went to my father in laws house and its a couple miles down a dirt road....I tried to think of everything to get there without all the dirt and mud from rain...Only thing I could come up with was run or walk and no way was I doing that lol
 
Not too much you can do...some QD with anti-static properties might help a bit, but likely won't make a much of a difference. Be sure to spray out the underside thoroughly on occasion. Some vehicles hold tons of dirt.
 
How long is the dirt road? If more people than you use it you may be able to get everyone to pitch in and get it pave or at least poor new gravel.
 
Some dirt roads around here are sprayed with a salt solution that prevents them from dusting, makes the surface hard. But it has to be redone every spring.
 
Some of it can be blown away with compressed air, but i.e. tires and wheels attract most of the dust and it's hard to get them clean with air alone.
 
Try moving. I know it's expensive, but like many good lsp's and qd's the effects can change the way your paint looks on a daily basis.



I'm kidding by the way. I'd let it dust up, then wash it probably twice a week, at least. Considering this is grainy dust, I'd say take precaution with washing and caring for the paint. Don't want to marr it up! Believe me. I know how bad it is to take care of black paint that attracts dust!
 
I dont think there is anything you can do here. If you are anal about your car's cleanliness...than nothing will help keep dust from a dirt road off of you car.



I have a gravel driveway that's only about 150 feet long and even that gets my car all dusty. Especially the wheels, tires, and rear bumper area.

Yes, with a black car, it's gonna show if a gnat craps on the paint. I wouldn't lay a QD on the paint though (as I made loose mention of before). Just keep time and soap available.



Living here in Oklahoma sucks so bad in the summer that at one point, I was washing my car nearly every other day. It was ridiculous.

Asphalt paving? Road oil?
 
My girl lives down a dirt road, and I used to wash my car all the time, but at the end it was a waste of my time and I just sucked it up and got used to it.



When I do wash, I always scrub my wheel wells and apply tire dressing to make it look black again.
