Dirt holograms??

OK. This is really perplexing me. All the time I see what look like holograms in my car (and other cars I've detailed) when it gets dirty or really dusty. Then I wash my car and poof! They're gone?!?!?! I can't get them to re-appear under any kind of light including sunlight once the car is clean & dry.

Anyone else ever notice this happening?

I get that sometimes if my car has a good layer of dust and I go over the surface with my California Duster.

Sometimes I've gotten marks appearing in the pattern of my last QD'ing.

So, what do you guys think then? Do you think it's not a paint defect? Maybe the dirt is sticking to some product residue still on the paint?

Well, I guess you could try going in a certain pattern on 1 panel and your typical pattern for the rest and see if you get that "look" in the same 2 types of patterns next time it gets dusty, or if it still looks uniform regardless of the patterns.
