Dilution Ratio of Dawn?

I stopped using Dawn when the CG CW came out. CW at body solvent strength kicks Dawn's butt. @ $19 a gal its not that much more expensive that than buying several smaller bottles of Dawn to make a gallon.

As others have said Dawn removes oils from rubber gaskets, wiper blades, plastics, etc. Again FK1 1119.

Finish Kare FK1 Consumer Detailing Products

If it strips oils, how come it leaves the spaghetti sauce stains in my tupperware? :nana:

The point of this thread is, that Zaino recommends it for use with their product. If you don't use it and have issues than you have nothing to stand on when you call and ***** at Sal because his products don't work.

Do you hear what you are saying? You are recommending the decon Step 1 which is petroleum distillates and TSP, and saying that is safer for your car than hand dishwashing detergent. TSP is used for degreasing garage floors before painting, (here's one warning I found on TSP "TSP is a strong base and can cause severe eye damage and can burn unprotected skin.")

BTW, there are no oils in rubber gaskets, wiper blades or plastics. These items can be damaged by ozone, UV, and chemicals...they don't have oil in them. Saying that rubber and plastic has oil in it because petroleum may be used in the manufacture is like saying you have dinosaurs in your gas tank...that gas may have started out as dinosaurs, but trust me, there are none in your tank.

1119 is diluted click to view the label Finish Kare FK1 Consumer Detailing Products . As for the oils, you are right. But it leaves them very dry and squeky clean, hard for me to describe how dawn leaves plastics. Say you have Black WOW on you platic trim, you won't after dawn.

I have used 1119 several times on my RX8 and beleive me if it did anything to harm the finish I would not use it.

I know all about 1119, I have it and have used it many times, and if you're trying to say that Dawn takes off Black Wow but 1119 won't, not only is that laughable, but it makes 1119 laughable for its intended purpose. I also have Dawn, and believe me, if it was capable of harming my car finish I wouldn't USE IT ON MY HANDS OR ON THE DISHES/COOKWARE I EAT FROM. And you're saying that after using a cleaner, it's bad for plastic to be dry and squeaky clean...I thought that was the intent of using a cleaner.

I'm out, you guys keep demonizing the hand dish washing soap and telling me the PD's and TSP's etc. are safe.

I'm not saying 1119 will not remove WOW. ALL I AM SAYING IS I WOULD RATHER USE 1119 THAN DAWN FROM THE EXPERIENCE. I'm out.

there is no debate with grout sponges.

Sure there is, see.

Dawn does what it says, it cleans food off pans. If you drive a pan and happen to cover it with food.......Dawn that cookware.

But seriously, if you think dawn works to wash your car with, use it. If I needed a degreaser to wash my car with and I had no other alternatives, I would use dawn.

Sorry, shoulda been more specific. I meant that people will post forever debating about the use of dawn almost as much as they will rave about the grout sponge. I didn't mean to imply that there was any sort of debate about the grout sponge.
