Diehard zaino guy...thinking about switching to pinnacle...advice?

I haven't noticed any increase in dust since using Souveran.I see less dusting and my car is black

Thanks. Like I said, I haven't used it so I don't know. I didn't remember reading many Souveran users complaining of dust attraction.

Never be afraid to try out new products, always use what best suits YOU, I have spent a retarted amount of $, and now have found what I like. I use about 3-4 different brands for different steps, I use menz polishs, poorboys glazes, zanio, 1z and ocw wax/ sealants, and some others. In the end use what you like the best give things a try you might find something cheaper and more effective.

Ok, next question.

Since I have a large supply of zaino stuff, how would the zaino car wash and detail sprays play with the souveran?

The carwash will work fine, but IMO Z6 and Z8 will kill the signature Pinnacle look.

Currently I'm using 3 carnaubas on a semi-rotating basis, Victoria Concours, Souveran, and Dodo Juice Supernatural. My garage queen is Imola red and it rarely sees rain and is stored throughout the winter, coming out for late spring and summer.

All three of the above carnaubas are worth a try on your GTO and I'd certainly recommend you start with Souveran.

Easy on, easy off, buffs to a super shine and while it doesn't last a whole lot of time, another coat goes on really quickly anyway. For a guy that wants to keep the GTO looking it's best, another coat is a great investment of a few minutes.

Like all high end carnaubas, put the Souveran on thin and remove/buff with a quality microfiber like the Cookie Monster or the even more plush Shamrock. Some say the Shamrock is just too plush to remove wax but it works like a dream with Souveran.

Don't be shy, just get yourself a tub of Souveran and if for some miracle of miracles you don't like it and I could never imagine that happening, you could sell it easily. A million guys would line up to buy it from you. No loss of loot.

John, not to go too far off topic, but I would be interested in hearing more of a comparison from you regarding those three quality waxes! :up

Souveran looks really good, but if you have high pollen or dust in your area (in the spring) it will drive you crazy keeping it looking good..

You'll either be QDing all the time, or washing a lot (one or the other/maybe both. lol This was my experience with Souveran on my Black Metallic car last spring. I ended up removing after a week and applying Zaino.

Zaino's was temperamental imo on the day the humidity was high. Which is most everyday. However, I didn't experience the pollen or dust sticking to my car like I did with Souveran.

Again Souveran looks really good, but it drove me crazy trying to keep the pollen and dust off.

Fwiw. Souveran didn't give me many problems in the fall.

I would suggest perhaps trying Collinite 845. It's cheap, so you wouldn't be out $100 or whatever Souveran is going for nowadays. It's very durable, so that's a plus. It also has more of a warm, wet carnauba look than Zaino. I think it looks great on black.

Heck, try it and if you don't like it, go for the Pinnacle. Personally I use FK1000P mostly, but I find it much more particular when applying than 845, which is almost as easy as Souveran. I think 845 is the best of both worlds regarding looks and durability/ease of use.

*Totally* agree. Conventional wisdom around here is to use the Collinites for winter durability and environmental protection, but to look elsewhere for "looks".

Personally, I think it's really hard to beat 845 over a good glaze.

Not for nothing but with heavy pollen it drives me nuts no matter what LSP I haved used.

Assuming proper prep and enough time to maintain a show car shine, all three produce a high, deep gloss and my eyes just can't tell subtle variations in gloss. Others may have a more discerning eye but I just can't. All are easy to apply and remove. I haven't really had SN long enough to put it through it's paces except for a two day window, but what a two day window it was!

The Vic. Concours has great durability, holding it's shine and beading ability longer than Souveran by far. Not only by my experience but by another more clinical type test done in the UK (Detailing World). Vic. Concours has a strawberry smell and reminds me of times spent at the regattas at Henley, but that's another story.

Sometimes the wife, not a car nut at all, will look over the deck railing and comment that she's never seen the Red Racer looking better and for her to comment at all is a testament to the above 3 waxes. She'll offer the comments for all three, depending what's on that time so the shines are quite close.

Interestingly, she'll never comment on Sluggo2 (dark green), the winter driver, when it has a new coating of Collinite 845 or FK Pink Wax or Klasse SG or OptiSeal or Bilt Hamber's Auto Balm.

Price wise, Vic Concours < Souveran < SN and I keep all three close.

Maybe this spring, when the Arctic Char return to the sea and the cariboo return to the tundra I'll do a side by side comparison and see if I can really notice a difference.
