Cytomax- I think I'd stop there and put some clear (maybe colorcoat too) over the spot near the middle of the repair if it's as over-sanded as it looks like in the one pic. I dunno..whenever I have an oops of that magnitude I try to remedy it at least a little.
I assume you're using 4" pads to do the PCing (if not you might need 'em). I'd use speed 6 unless your pads get unstable at that speed (my 4" orange ones do) in which case use 5. You'll probably need all the PC's ability to get the scratches out of the OE paint (the touchup will be softer and *I* might wait a while for it to harden).
This is, I fear, a lesson learned the hard way about using aggressive papers...I just *never* go harsher than 1500 and I can't remember the last time I used that.
