Did this scratch go through the primer? *High Res Pics Inside*

Cytomax- I think I'd stop there and put some clear (maybe colorcoat too) over the spot near the middle of the repair if it's as over-sanded as it looks like in the one pic. I dunno..whenever I have an oops of that magnitude I try to remedy it at least a little.

I assume you're using 4" pads to do the PCing (if not you might need 'em). I'd use speed 6 unless your pads get unstable at that speed (my 4" orange ones do) in which case use 5. You'll probably need all the PC's ability to get the scratches out of the OE paint (the touchup will be softer and *I* might wait a while for it to harden).

This is, I fear, a lesson learned the hard way about using aggressive papers...I just *never* go harsher than 1500 and I can't remember the last time I used that.

I just hand rubbed some of that sonus SFX-1 stuff on it and it looks a lot better except for that spot that we both know i over sanded...

well i guess i could paint that spot and then lightly sand it with 2k tomorrow and then do all my buffing tomorrow

im going to take some pics real quick of the SFX stuff i just used by hand real quick...

brb

Well seeing how the sun is on its way down over here...

This is what im planning on doing and please let me know if you would do anything differently...

Apply some touch up paint today and then tomorrow just apply the Sonus SFX-1 and hope it comes out acceptable... to be honest right now i feel its better than what it was before... nothing is rusting and there are no glaring white spots... HOWEVER

this is my only fear... lets say i apply the touchup paint today and do the SFX-1 tomorrow i dont want to then run into another area that runs out of paint...but if i only use the SFX-1 stuff and rub it in by hand i dont think ill have that much of a problem...

Oh well decisions decisions... id like to hear what you would recommend and i know like always ill make the final decision....good or bad... but hopefully good ...

I think ill just clay my windows and clean my leather as i wait...

EDIT: Maybe its because its night time... but i really dont see it that well.. i think im just going to go full steam ahead and just use SFX-2 on the whole the car and then finish it with Klasse All in One....

i cant keep worrying about this scratch lol... itll consume me until i repair the whole panel... ill chalk this up to a learning experience and only use 2K or greater when sanding down touchups .... and BTW that SFX-1 stuff is amazing... WOW didnt expect it could do that...

My only question really is... if i leave it alone will it rust... im thinking no cuz i dont think primer rust but that is just what i think i dont know...

Thanks in Advance

Eddie

Cytomax- I *think* I'd just put some clear over the bad spot and not touch it for a few days (I know, not that easy to do that huh?), then polish it but don't try to get things 100% smooth.

I would *NOT* worry about rust, I've had areas down to primer (worn through single stage paint on a beater) that never gave me any problems at all. Just keep LSP/etc. over the spot and moisture shouldn't permeate through to cause rust.

Thank you for the reply... if i had the clear coat i would use it but i cant wait another week for that to come in the mail and i really promised myself i would finish this be the end my week long vacation ... i just want to finish this and chalk it up as a learning experience.....

Stick with ONLY 2K and higher..

Im going to use the SFX-2 today and seal it with Klasse AIO....

been wanting to do this for over a year but i always wanted to take care of the scratches first...

Oh well... ive had the car for 4 years and it really isnt that bad a defect i made in the car... ill take pictures from 5 feet away when i finish and youll see....

As you said in your quote ... practical perfectionist... i cant get obsessed over this or ill go crazy lol....

Thanks for all your help Accumulator i really appreciate it... ill be updating my pics hopefully tonight....

Eddie
