Did Megs #9 scratch my car??

I saw my detailed car under some lights at night last night (I spent the entire day detailing) and I swear I have more spidder webbing then when I first started. I washed, clayed, washed, used #9, then AIO and SG, followd by s100. Did I do something wrong?



I'm wondering if maybe I should ahve used more of the #9...I didn't apply TOO much. Any takers on this? Still, the car looks awesome, but I'm picky as all get-out...thanks to this site! :D
 
Chances are it looked great after the #9 as it contains fillers which filled in your swirls. The AIO removed all the fillers/oils from #9.

You will need something more agressive (and non filling) if you want to REMOVE the swirls (like Meg's DACP polish)



On a side note, claying could have caused scratches if you did not use enough lube.

Wow, I had no idea that AIO would actually remove the work that #9 does. I guess I'll go with the DACP next time? Is that considerably more aggressive? I mean, I dno't want to take the paint off my car :nixweiss
 
Yup, AIO will clean every down to bare paint.



DACP is more aggressive, but still gentle compared compounds. Escpecially with a PC. With a rotary and the heat it generates, you have more to worry about. Unless you are going to polish every week with DACP, you have nothing to worry about. I polish twice a year with DACP, and have not had any problems.
 
I would recommend that you wait 24 hours after applying the SG before using the S100. It won't have any impact on your swirls but I think it would look better and last longer.
 
Thanks everyone. I picked up #9 because I heard it wasn't as abrasive as others, and as a first-timer with the PC I was afraid to do damage to the paint. Looks like DACP is the next step for me.





Also, can someone tell me about NXT?? I'm quite out of the loop on this one. I saw a bottle at PepBoys, NTX Spray Wax. At first I thought it was some kind of QD, but the package stated to wait until the product hazed to buff it off. so this is a kind of wax? Not to be used in conjuction with s100 I assume?



Also, are there other NXT products, or is the Spray Wax the only one available?

I follow up with Klasse AIO after every polish no matter how light or heavy I had to work on the panel. It clears up that mess you see under proper lighting, cleans the paint and gives a nice base shine to begin with.
 
The NXT Spray Wax is a sort of "booster" for the actual NXT Tech protectant.



I love the look of NXT, and its tops at hiding swirls, but I get such horrible smearing I can't in good concience reccomend it to anyone.
