Did I make a good wax choice ?

I just found this site. I ordered the Klasse twins with microfiber pad and towel the other day. Wondering if I made a good choice for my new turbo PT Cruiser. It is Inferno Red. This is a metalic red base coat with a red tinted clearcoat.

I also ordered the Erazer clay bar and lub spray.

I have a inexpensive random orbital buffer. I read that the Klasse sealant glaze should go on by hand but plan to use the buffer for the all in one.

I saw on Meguiars web site a microfiber bonnet for sale. Would this work much better than the terrycloth bonnets?

thanks

you will like all of those products. It is not one of the popular products here on Autopia but I personally love the Erazer clay. Car wash soap and water is just as good a lube for the clay as anything else and a lot cheaper. It will be quicker to do the AIO by hand and IMO you will get just as good of results. I would recommend doing a search on using Klasse. Let the SG sit overnight and use a damp towel and then a dry towel right behind it to remove the SG and you will never have to worry about the infamous Klasse haze.

Welcome to Autopia. :)

For starters, Klasse is not a wax. Its a sealant. Waxes are less durable and don't protect as well.

AIO is a good cleaner and a great base for the SG. You shouldn't really need the cleaning part since this is a brand new car. You can use it if you want, but its probably not necessary. Using a machine to apply it isn't going to do anything more than doing it by hand will do. Your paint probably isn't that dirty so there won't be much change after the AIO except you may see some paint darkening. That will just add to the reflectiveness though. I don't know if you can tell from this picture, but the right side of the picture has just AIO on it.

You can tell that it just darkens it a bit. Not a bad thing. Especially on red. Its going to look great with Klasse. :xyxthumbs

Welcome! I love my PT and I also use the Klasse twins. As Jngrbrman said on paint in good condition using Klasse AIO by hand is so easy that you feel guilty that you are not having to work harder. I feel that because AIO has cleaners in it you can save a step. In other words after I clay (I use Mother's clay) I do not have to do a wash, I just AIO. The best description for using Klasse was described by jimwh. I will try and find his instructions and link them for you.

I do have a tip for you. I pour my Klasse into small 3 or 4 ounce spray bottles and spray my mf pad two or three times per panel. After a few panels your pad is loaded and only two sprays on the pad are necessay. This helps you to control product, prevents spills and you can just stick the spray bottle in your pocket during application ( that way you are not having to look for a place to set the Klasse bottle). With Klasse less is better as a matter of fact on my silver cars it is difficult to see the product when applying. To use more is just wasteful and perhaps a little harder to remove but to use more product will not hurt anything.

Good Luck!

Welcome to Autopia! :wavey

As an alternative to the spray bottle method rightlane suggested, I put my Klasse SG in tiny 1 or 2 oz squeeze bottles (from plastics, crafts, or dollar stores). This lets me draw a thin line of product on the applicator pad and gives great control over the product. Klasse AIO is easy to use, but with Klasse SG application remember: thin, thin, THIN.

Happy detailing!

Thanks for all the good info. Sounds like thin is in. Got a package today. It is the Klasse.

rightlane and 4DSC I am testing the AIO on a spot on my washing machine. It is thin and runny so I see how you could apply to much. Will look for a small spray or squeeze bottle.

Jngrbrdman My last car was a White 96 Integra LS. Wonderful car that gave me no problems for 6 years. I can see the difference in your pic. Just what I'm looking for.

Thanks again everyone.

Did the car today. Had no problems using either of the Klasse products thanks to all the good tips here. Bet I used only about half a ounce of both. Will try to put a second coat of SG in the morning. With such bright shiney paint I could notice a bit of Orange peel. Standing back a few feet I can't see it.

I was surprised at how much junk the clay picked up. Most of it a redish color. My guess is rusting metal particles of some kind. Must have been a long train ride from Mexico where the car was made.
