Did I do wrongly with Z1/Z2/Z6?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with Zaino?

I did my first Zaino on my 3 weeks old focus.

Here's what I did.

1. Wash car with dishwashing solution with cotton cloth.

2. Dry car with chamios.

3. Apply Z1 with cotton towel. Used very little only. But how to tell if I apply it too little?

4. Apply Z2 with microfiber towel over Z1.

5. 1 hour later buff off Z2 and apply Z6 with microfiber towel.

6. One week later...

7. Wash car with carwash shampoo and dry.

8. Apply Z6. Followed with Z2.

9. Buff off Z2 after few hours. But no time to apply Z6.

While the shine is evident (and water beading is really evident), I am not quite satisfied after all the work. I intend to apply Z6, then Z2, then Z6 again next week.

Did I missed anything here? Thanks.

sounds like you did it all correctly, I think that zaino really shows the best after 3-4 coats. Also I realy like Z5 better than Z2, but that is just my $02.........

I agree that it takes several coats of z2/z5/z6 to see best results.

It may just be my imagination, but Z5 seems to take longer to dry and seems harder to remove than the Z2. I also think it works better to leave them applied longer than the recommended time before removing them. I live in the desert, so temp and humidity is not an issue. I think it works better to leave on for about 2 hours in my optimum climate. (75-80 degrees with 12-24% humidity).

Also, I find both difficult to apply evenly and it is difficult to see the haze.

Some warn not apply too much but I think a little too heavy a coat works better than not applying enough. The applicator needs just the right amount of moisture. I believe this is a matter of experience and getting the right "feel". Too wet and moisture gets transferred to the vehicle; too dry and the polish cakes and is hard to disperse.

Results? Z5 gives a more subtle and a "thicker" looking shine, whereas Z2 provides a mirror type of look. Think of the difference between polished calfskin leather (Z5) shoes and patent leather (Z2).

Also, if your car is new it might have rail dust on it. My car had so much rail crap on it when I picked it up.

You might want to clay it. Clay made such a huge differance on my car.

I recently did a detail on a silver Ford F150: interior, dawn wash, clay, wash with MGC, polish, AIO, Zaino Z2/Z5 mix with ZFX. I was so exhausted from all the prep I let the rest of the ZFX'd Zaino go to waste after just one coat.

The truck looks great but is, as you said, "missing something." I'd highly recommend putting more coats on. I too said "That's It?" after seeing the results of applying a single coat of Zaino, Klasse, etc. Multiple coats for best results!

And as others have mentioned, try z5! If you have ZFX try 3 coats of Z5 or a mix of Z2/Z5.

Good luck :xyxthumbs
