Did I do something wrong?

I washed, clayed, and waxed my friend's truck today. I first started off with Meguiars Gold Class car wash. Then clayed it twice with Mothers clay and Mothers Showtime as a lube. I clayed it twice because the paint still felt rough. I then did a quick wax with Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax. After I did everything, the paint looked like it was waxed, but the paint didn't feel smooth. The whole truck is covered in water spots. Could that be why the paint is not smooth?
 
the clay should of taken off the water spots, wash it again in the shade then dry it and try to clay it again, then put a coat of wax on it
 
Clay will not remove water spots that are etched into the paint.



You didnt do anything wrong if they were already there.. Depending on how bad the spots are, you would need to polish them out. I would use #80 to see what that did.. If they didnt do it, then I would try #83..
