DI resin Beads

Anyone find a good source for DI resin beads? I like my CR spotless but with my hard water its going to be expensive. 215 for 3 refills of my DC 20 is okay, but I'm sure there is a better deal out there.

Cheers,

GREG

There is a thread where this is discussed...it might be Supe's thread on cheap CR alternates. I have this link in my favorites, not sure if it's the one that came from that thread: DI

Costco has them at $149.99 for four bags.

Thanks dan, but that is way more than 215$ for a 3 refill canister for the DC20. I'm looking for cheap :woot:

I attempted to look in that thread but did not find it, maybe too much haste on my part. I looked over your link and its the same price as CR spotless, and CR does free shipping.

I swear their is a thread that talks about a much cheaper option!

Cheers,

GREG

I dunno...maybe CR lowered their prices, maybe that place raised them, maybe that's not the place. I looked thru that whole thread of Supe's and also searched for other threads but I couldn't find where the other sources of bulk resin were discussed, the discussion in Supe's thread all seemed to be about cartidges and not bulk.

I use the Spot Free water softener. It also contains resin beads, however, you simply clean them by running water softener salt through it. The salt costs a few dollars for a bag that lasts at least 6 months.

Yeah Greg I am with you about looking for a cheaper price on that resin. I have only looked in a few areas but the price seems to be about the same no matter what.

I guess if a genereic resin is out there maybe that would be an option. The question is are their other resins that the CR-Spotless can use (i.e. the resin for a water softenr like brwill2005 talks about above). I will try an look later.

I am running through resin like mad.

Here is something interesting from another forum. Cr Spotless resin - Detailing Bliss Forum

brad,

Is this the system you are referring to Water Filter,Water Softner,Spot Free Water Filter,Filters,Water Softener Systems,Filtered Water System? It sounds more like a water purification unit that also removes hard water minerals.

How good is it at leaving the water on a car in the sun and not spotting?

The unit called 1000 what is the yield based on PPM coming into the unit? 200ppm?

So the recharging only costs about 5$ and the recharging media can be reused?

Thanks and Cheers,

GREG

If I recall the media for 1cubic foot WAS 195$ now its 215$ from CR spotless.

Like you I recall a thread on bulk resin for cheaper, but cannot find it!!!

Resins that are recharged with salt water don’t produce DI water. They exchange the calcium for sodium. So your water isn’t de-ionized. It’s differently ionized.

If different is less spotty than it was originally you’re ahead of the game.

Recharging true DI resins requires a much more aggressive chemical process.

Well, AG just started selling CRS today, so at least you will get 10% off on the resin.

Ah, thanks for posting that.

I just decided I'm gonna buy more and I would've just ordered from CRS.

Accumulator, I hope the 10% applies (you know how some places exclude discounts on big-ticket items), and apparently CRS does free shipping, so you'll have to do the math to see which comes out better.
