DG and Zaino seem very similar?

Infiniti G35x are AWD guys...

Same uni-body as the Altima or is it the Maxima now?

I'm sure the Altima can be fitted for AWD or RWD. Do they have a flat floor in the rear seat?

EX35 - Murano

FX56 - Armada

G35 - Altima

G35 coupe - Altime Coupe

OK, like a few other Americans, I'm having some issues with cash flow and I look to save a buck every chance I get. So, last time I was in Target, my wife pointed out the Target brand mouth wash and Listerine was the same color and looking at the back - the same ingredients. Target was about $4 cheaper - guess which one I bought!

My bottle of Listerine says "This formula is not sold to any retailer as a store brand". That being said there are an awful lot of weird similarities between Zaino and DG...could be a coincidence, but it sure makes you

i wouldnt be surprised if they were the same company.

im sure almost all of the small guys (wolfgang, pinnacle...who are the same company...poorboys, chemical guys, zaino, dodo juice...etc etc etc) buy their stuff in bulk from the big labs (maybe megs, maybe P21S, maybe klasse) and repackage it a little (maybe change the color or the smell) and resell it in their own containers. only difference is they jack up the prices in order to add some air of exclusivity cause they know detailing guys are finicky ("surely this $100 wax has to be better than this $20 wax!!!!"). i doubt zaino or pinnacle or whomever have the same R&D (if they have any at all) as meguiars or mothers.

detailing is to men what moisturizer is to women.

weclome to marketing 101.

sounds like blasphemy, but think about it.

Really? Hmm...never seen that before. Sometimes I'll buy the Equate (Wal-Mart brand) version of Listerine, and the ingredients list on the back is verbatim.

Interesting.

All that means is listerine doesn't repackage their product for store brands. Doesn't mean that another company can't make the equivalent.

Anybody ever hear of generic drugs? Why buy tylenol when you can get acetominophen for half that. Advil/ibuprofen.

Btw, g35/g37 would be more similiar to the 350z/370z

Like I said earlier I never used either but it wouldn't surprise me. Some people like to pay for the name. It gives them a feeling of security and exclusivity. You can say you used a $8 bottle of sealant on your car or would you rather tell people you used an exclusive formulation of a $30 sealant that need another bottle of a flash accelerator that was layered 17 times? Which sounds more appealing?

Yeah, but this is where we get into the weasel-wording. Maybe "this formula" uses different inactive ingredients (flavoring? coloring?), so technically it's a true statement, but in reality it's the same stuff (that's presuming that Listerine makes it for Wal-Mart or Target). If someone else makes it, it would still be a true statement that Listerine doesn't sell that formula to anyone else, even if someone else reverse-engineered it and makes the exact same formula in a different plant.

That's true. Good point.[

If Zaino and Duragloss are the same why hasn't DG released a WOWA product and why are they also playing around with a sealant that has 3 additives when Z2Pro only requires ZFX. They are as dissimilar as they are similar.

I guess we can argue this all day. It could be marketing reasons. DG sells at a lower price point, perhaps they felt that the WOWA product was too expensive for their market, and the ZFX too complicated (and maybe they have changed their mind and decided on the 3-part, or maybe that will never come to market). Maybe parts of the lines are related, and some aren't--perhaps the WOWA product was developed separately and DG wasn't involved with that (even some of the co's that supposedly are built on CG have products that don't have a CG analogue...what's preventing one of those CG "resellers" from having more suppliers than just CG?).

I'm expecting this to get ugly again, so I'll have to just say that we should all be happy that we have such great product choices from so many suppliers and we should just enjoy and buy from whoever we think is best for us, and not worry about the rest. If you want to nit-pick this stuff we can start to say that a GM car isn't really GM because the interiors are made somewhere else, Delco is a separate company, the transimission are a joint venture, yada yada, they hardly design or build any of the car anymore, it's just relabled vendor parts!

Maxima is built on the Altima platform. The G35 platforms are different than the Maxima/Altima.

Who do we have that there are no obvious behind the scenes ties?

Meguiars

Optimum

Black WOW

Menzerna

Wurth

Zaino

3M

You can add Clearkote to that list.

Optimum used to outsource the actual blending and packaging of their products but now everything is done in house.

With 3M now owning Meguiars, I wonder if there will be any combining of the product lines?

You are correct, a google search will return:

The Maximer and the Altimer are on the D platform.

The G35x shares the 350Z platform called the FM.

So my wife drives a 4 dr 350Z.

I wash my face with Cetaphil liquid cleanser which is expensive and very mild made for sensitive skin. Like you, I noticed the store brand (I believe I was in CVS). The ingredients are EXACT and listed in the same order as the Cetaphil brand soap. Basically it was identical. I bought it and used it that night. It burned the living hell out of my face! I had to wash it off immediately. Even though everything was the same, there was no way it was the same! It was awful.

Sorry Spilchy - I know of cases where the generic drug was crap and my doctor instructed the drug store to fill with the name brand. But with the mouth wash - I can't tell the difference. Like they say - buyer beware.......

If you spend even 5 minutes on the phone talking with Sal, you'll quickly realize his knowledge of how products in general work and their composition - and all of that knowledge and research is translated directly into his products.

I haven't used all of the Duragloss products, but I've used some, and the similarities weren't overly striking, IMO. But I am pretty confident that Sal makes his own products.

The internet rhetoric is amusing and is usually carried by folks who are too afraid to pick up the phone a make a call to anyone of these companies to ask questions. Most companies/owners are pretty forth-coming about things.
