DG #105-How long between coats?

Does anyone know what the minimum time is I should wait between applying coats of DG #105? I just applied to my car, and would like to do a 2nd coat today, but was unclear on how long I should wait before doing the 2nd coat.

Thanks

I usually wait 24hrs between coats. But, you may be able to do it after 12hrs - hopefully someone will chime in. Either way it should be easy as no 601 bonding agent is needed for the second. I usually just use a good cleaning qd (like DG FCS, CG qds or PB S&W) the next day if not too dirty.

Thanks----I'll hit it with another coat tomorrow. I was hoping I could do it today in like 4 hrs or something, but I'll wait. Then I'll maintain with the AW as long as weather permits.

FYI---I used foam microfiber covered 3" x 5" by 1" thick pads to apply the bonding agent and the 105. They worked great and allowed me to get a thin even coat by hand. I removed the #105 with a MF bonnet over a foam pad on my PC, then went all around the car with a MF cloth by hand. It looks quite nice, but I don't think it has the wetness that I had with the Aquawax alone. That will come later after another coat of 105, and then AW a week later. I'm hoping to get winter protection with this until next March.

you could do a second coat after 12 hours....I asked the chemist this question before..he said 12 is fine 24 is better....24 gives the product better time to set up..

I found that a yellow megs foam spreads the 105 real nice..just use a quick spritz of AW on the pad to prime it a little....I do my truck with less than a half ounce if that...MF applicators tend to absorb a lot of product..

Also if you are not seeing the wetness...try removing by hand next time....sometimes a MF bonnet will tend to dull the finish with product build up on the bonnet....

I get a very wet look after just wipeing it off...takes me 5 minutes to wipe off flipping sides on the MF....

Thanks, Al. I did 2 cars today with the full treatment. I'm going to take your suggestions on the foam pad and hand removal when I do the 2nd coats tomorrow. I can't be sure how much I used to do a GTI and a Forester, but I'd guess 1-1/2 oz. each, so I'll use the foam for less product retention on the pad. I already decided to skip the PC and bonnet on the first pass wipe off-waste of time~!

Did the 2nd coat on both cars today using a foam wax pad to apply, and removed with a plush cotton terry. Better results, and the wetness that I had with Aquawax is back. It's still not quite as good as the AW, but no one other than me would probably notice. I am quite sure after I put a coat of AW over this after the next wash that I will have the look AND the protection I am after.

Can't do outdoor pics because it started raining right after I did the Forester, then my wife took it shopping, and the GTI is in the garage.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Freebiz...give it time....it always looks better the next day...

How did the foam work out..did you find it spreads it a lot further...and removing by hand is a breeze...I find it faster this way than using a pc with a bonnet...and better results...

Yes---the hand removal was better and more time-effective. The foam pad used less product, but it was not as good as the MF pad as far as getting good coverage goes.
