Anybody got any tips on using it? What polishes and pads ect.

I'm thinking megs pads and ssr1+2.5?

I use Zaino z2pro as a topper.

Thanks

great machine, it'll do everything the PC does...

read up & do a search on PC use & use the same techniques they mention, it'll be very similar.

u can use Megs pads (both sizes), 3M pads & most others brands 7 to 7 1/2 inchs.

Work out if u feel more comfortable using one hand on the head of the dewalt or two hands, the other deing on the handle...

Do one section at a time such as a 1/4 of a bonnet and see how u go.

Use the least aggressive product first up till u get the feel for it & then u will know if u have to step up... with experience you'll know what to use by sighting the paint finish... then

take a deep breath and ...

good luck & "may the skill be with you"... (couldn't resist - star wars is on !!!)

Why did you go with a DeWalt 443 over a PC? How much did it cost you? (If you don't mind me asking. Price in GBP is fine, I'll find an e-rate).

The U.K. price £127 from Amazon. This worked out a lot cheaper than the P.C. and I dont need a transformer.

Just easier than getting a P.C. really.

I wanted a PC but I had to use a transformer with it. So I bought the 443 instead and I've had no regrets. I use 7-1/2" LC pads and the Meguiars pads.

I hear you can bog down the PC by pressing hard on it. I cannot imagine that happening with the 443 no matter how hard you press it under normal usage so I'd say it is the more powerful machine.

Hey RuffRider,

Here in Australia we have no choice really... I'd go for the PC but PC don't produce one for 220-240V countries!!!:nono

To import a US PC, buy an extension cable, voltage transformer, pay postage, handling charges and then foreign exchange conversion... It just didn't make any financial sense... No matter how much I REALLY, REALLY WANT one.:nixweiss

One of the best alternatives for me was the Dewalt443. Its specs are fairly close to the PC & I do not regret my decision at all... Its a gr8 machine & very easy to use. The only drawback is you cannot change the backing plate. I'd love to use some 4" pads...:(

I was lucky & paid $150 AUD for mine but only cos it is being discontinued here & mine was a display model. Normal retail price was around $330 - $350 AUD. Best part - plug it in & go... None of the above to worry about...

If anyone knows if other backing plates can be used for the Dewalt443 or a way of converting it, PLEASE let us all know???

Hope this helps...

The Dewalt 443 is a remarkable machine. same basic features as the PC but with the heavier duty motor you can apply more pressure and so more serious paint correction. I even remove swirls and light scratches with it. Now my PC sits on the shelf for the most part. gary

The 443 certainly looks a good machine, but how easy are the backing plates to find? Also, are they of the flexible type( like the P.C.) I'm on the brink of ordering a P.C. but the Dewalt still looks quite tempting.

The only thing that is putting me off the 443 is I think one of the other threads on it says you cant use the 4 inch pads on it.

I have a DeWALT DW443 and the original backing plate has worn out (the hooks are getting bald). I'm searching for aftermarket backing plates, if there's none, I will want to sell it away.
