This car belongs to the Vice President of the Viper Club of America. The car was a pleasure to work on, and he was a pleasure to deal with. It was an overcast day, so the pictures are a touch dark.

Process:

-wash

-clay

-PO106FF with a polishing pad at 1500 rpm

-Zaino Z5 Pro by hand

-ZAIO on wheels

-Zaino Z16 on tires and trim

-Zaino Z9 and Z10 on leather

Next up was a Ford GT owned by a doctor in town. It has long tube headers, a Ford Racing exhaust, and a Whipple. This car was a major PITA! It only has 250 miles on the odometer and looked like it was washed with the dirtiest rag someone at the dealership could find. Numerous scratches and swirls plagued the finish. Not only that, but there are 4 million cracks, crevices, cubbie-holes, etc. to clean, polish, and/or dress. In the end, I spent 11+ hours on it. I wasn't 100% satisfied with it, but there eventually has to be a stopping place.

The paint was very thin, but rock hard. I corrected the majority of the defects, but some deeper problems still remain. A word of warning to anyone else who gets their hands on a Ford GT...be careful taping the textured trim pieces. While I was removing the tape, some of the paint/texture lifted from the piece. You can notice the area in one of the pictures (#4).

Process:

-wash

-clay

-PO106FF via light cutting pad and PC on 5-6

-PO106FF via polishing pad and PC on 5

-Zaino Z5 Pro

-Zaino Z16 on tires and trim

Stellar detailing and photography!

Don't beat yourself up over the GT. There's noway I'd want to burn a hole in that finish trying to make it 100% :).

ZaneO-Nice work (per usual ;) ). You must be getting pretty handy with the rotary, only using *it* on the Viper. Heh heh, smart move IMO- using only the PC on the GT even if it *did* look so trashed.

I wonder if the 3m *green* tape would've worked better on the GT's trim :nixweiss

Was he upset about the trim? Looks pretty apparent in the pictures.

But that is a beautiful car and looks dripping wet even if you weren't 100% satisfied. Better safe than sorry!

Zane,

Great work.

I think all GT get delivered this way. The ones I have seen and worked on always had problems and even a few missing parts. I love that polished Pump.

Nice work as always Zane, I don't know how someoone gets that many swirls on a clear with only 250 miles unless sitting at the dealership for a while or it must also have really soft paint.
