Detailing under the hood.....

I was just wondering what would be the best/proper way to clean/detail everything under my hood?

I clean with simple green diluted 4:1 or 10:1 depending on how nasty the engine bay is. Use a soft brush to scrub the heavy gunk off then rinse gently and dry. Dress the area with which ever you prefer from the Poorboys line NL, Bnb, or TR. I did an 03 X5 (pics of its swirls coming tonight) and used TR to dress and it looked great.

don't know how much "detail" you want to get into. but here is the way i go about it. get a good degreaser or engine cleaner. cover your alternator with a plastic bag. apply the cleaner to the engine. hose it down with a strong stream of water. just enough to get the job done. then to finish it off-apply a spray vinyl product. armor all...etc. it will dry to a glossy-clean finish.
