Detailing the "engine" of a hybrid

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
I have a few coming up and it just occured to me that the motor may be tricky. I have not done one yet.

Anything to avoid?

Anyone had any problems?

FWIW, it is a Toyota Highlander hybrid, two actually. :)

Man idk, cant say I have ever done a hybrid before, being a car guy you should be able to tell what if anything you would need to cover up...but im sure it being a modern car you wont need to do much to cover anything up...

Don't spray water in engine compartment!!!!! Wipe down only. Although there are enough safetys built in that you probably wouldn't get hurt, there is a lot of technology you could destroy. Don't take the chance.

Two Words "High Voltage!". Sorry, I idea of spraying down the engine compartment of one of those makes me cringe.

I really dont think spraying it is going to hurt anything...but if you dont feel comfortable with doing it just wipe it down....maybe they have a hybrid forum where you could find your answer... :LOLOL

The car manual may be in the glove. Check it out, it should have tips on engine maintenance/cleaning. Also try to find a forum for that car, there should be some tips there.

Wear some rubber gloves, rubber soled shoes, and don't stand around in the water. I'd probably opt not to detail the engines.

yep. When you are in doubt, trust your feeling and STOP. Play safe is the key.
