Whats your process for really soiled and dirty door jambs, what products and process do you use?

What do you do for light dirt and dust?

For really soiled jambs, I need to hose them out and degrease them (using Purple Power), and agitate with my SV brush. Then I go over them with ONR.

However, for most jambs, ONR is all I need. Plus Q tips to access the really tight areas.

And here I am going at it with APC and a terry cloth. :o

The newer cars are a dream to clean compared to the older ones. Everything is made to nicely flow the water away, they are flater and less nooks and crannys. All sound like great ideas! I have been doing like you Camo

Purple Power 50/50 water mix. Spray/saturate door jambs and hinges. Then us a paint brush to agitate the dirt off. I rinse with a hose and dry with a towel.

I actually havent come across any that bad, usually all I do is use the Meg's slide lock brush, last touch, and a microfiber, followed up by M40 on rubber. I would probably go with some APC or APC+ in the same manner and follow with a damp cloth to rinse if they were ever really bad.

I have a spray bottle mixture of OCW (car wash, not wax), OPC and distilled water. Does a pretty good job of breaking down gunk and leaves a nice sheen on the surface. Not to mention the fact that the OCW smells pretty good. :)

Hey Nick;

Believe it or not , i used simple green diluted. and then i applied a coat of ZAIO. I wipe it down when i wash the vehicle and wax it if I'm applying wax to the exterior, and it looks like this..

Door Jambs
1. Use P21S Total Auto Wash, dilute the cleaner as necessary, using a damp micro fibre towel go over the door jamb.
2. Take a Swissvax Detail Brush and ensure that you have got into the corners, just lightly brush over it a couple of times.
3. For difficult to reach areas use the Mini E-Z Detail brush with a flexible shaft
4. Rinse it off using a wet microfiber towel, and dry thoroughly
5. Use a Carnauba wax or a spray (WOWA) polymer sealant Zanio Z-8 for protection
6. Repeat this process on the other side and carry on detailing the rest of your car
7. Check the hinge / latch lubrication, renew with silicone grease as necessary
8. Remove dust / dirt from the rubber sleeves and apply Iz einszett Vinyl-Rubber Care'
9. While you are doing this part of the job, also clean the area around the boot lid, hood and inside the fuel filler flap and access area.
10. Clean the water channels in the trunk as well as under the hood.
11. Don?t forget the door sills / kick plates; once clean and dry, they should be protected by applying a surface dressing to vinyl surfaces and either wax or sealant protection to painted surfaces.

That's about as good as it gets right there! I simply substitute Zaino AIO for step #5.

LOL, am I the only one who uses the pressure washer to rinse the jambs before scrubbing them with a mitt and various brushes?

My process (for very dirt jambs that is) is as follows

-Spray with APC at 10:1
-Rinse with pressure washer (1000-1200psi and wide pattern tip...25 degree I think)
-Scrub with seperate wash mitt and various brushes
-Rinse

note I only use the PW with dirty jambs like the ones below.

Thanks for the tip Rasky, looks like I will be giving that a try soon.

Just use caution because you don't want to be spraying water inside the car. :D

My pressure washer is adjustable and on low psi so I never have any trouble... having a shorter pressure washer wand helps too. ;)

I don't like getting my mitts and brushes all dirty either.
