I was thinking, that cleaning and polishing auto paint it a pretty delicate process. Similar to vinyl record cleaning. Is there any products that any of you use. To clean old vinyl records? I was thinking about APC, ONR, or even a clay bar. If not what is some of your recipes for record cleaning?

I'm sure that a mild APC and ONR will be just fine, but would avoid using anything abrasive like a clay bar. Not sure if appling a wax would interfere with the reception?

I did try clay bar. It didn't really do much. Except removed some fingers prints. But it doesn't get down in the grooves. So it's not really a good solution. I did APC some records also. I really didn't notice much difference in sound. The crackle and pops were still there. But it did clean the surface really well.

The best thing I've found so far is using IPA (50% type) with one of the cutting in type painting pads. The one's that have a lot of little bristles. They seem to get down in the grooves really well. I really like to make my own custom recipe. I seem to find lots of other uses for my detailing products.

From what I've read. Wax would not be advisable. Unlike a auto paint. You want to leave the surface as clean as possible. Without leaving any traces of anything else behind.
