Detailing Stainless Steel? How to?

My wife wants to commandeer my detailing fetish inside the house and out of the garage by asking if I can use my PC7424 to make our stainless steel refrigerator look new again. Needless to say, I don't want to add swirl marks or damage the finish, so before I gave it a shot I thought I'd ask if anyone on the board has ever tried this, and if so, what were the results and what are your suggestions? What products did you use that worked best and at what speed? Or should I simply not try this?:nixweiss

I would not use a buffer on it. I use Eagle One nevr-dull and wipe only in the direction of the grain. Use a clean micro fiber to shine it up.
 
If it's the typical grained stainless try a Scotchbrite pad or sandpaper in the direction of the grain. That's how it was done originally. I don't know what the preferred grit is, but I've done it on our sink. You probably want to do it in an inconspicuous spot first.
 
Well I did use a PC a few days ago on the counter, the 106ff is too fine but the SIP polished it up very well but would not take out the large scratches. I did try a small area on the SS backsplash and it shined it up but did not feel like doing the whole thing. Before we used just plain old WD 40 to clean the SS. Try a small area.

Whatever you do, I'd recommend sliding out the fridge and testing it on the side, somewhere covered by cupboards or something first. Then you'll be able to test in an inconspicuous area and see if it works...

I'll try the "least aggressive" approach first since I have the Never-Dull cloth; then see about progressing further.

A great product for cleaning and shining St St is a product called Balistol, it leaves a streak free finish, you can see where you have been, it lasts weeks, it contains additives that bugs dont like (on the instructions its good for getting rid of ticks or lice!!!). We use it at work on the front of our beverage filling machines etc. The only down side is it stinks something awful. I use it on our cookerhood and my wife cant come in the kitchen until the smells gone.
