Detailing Oil Spill in Engine Bay?!

I have a customer who got an oil change and they apparently left the oil cap off and oil spilled out all over the engine and he wants a pressure wash and degrease. Anyone done something like this before? What can I expect? How much should I charge/quote? Thanks.

Its a mess but there's no difference in the process. You simply degrease it with a heavy duty degreaser and powerwash it. You'll have a little more time involved. I doubt much if any more effort than normal.

Me personally I would charge about $20-$30 for an engine bay degrease and detail. Alot on here would go alot higher it seems. But it's really nothing hard to deal with.

Give a little thought to the run-off. I have an oil separator plumbed into my floordrain, no way I'd want that stuff going down a regular drain (and think of the fines if the EPA found out).

I degreased the never-cleaned engine compartment/undercarriage of a 30-year-old Jag; just takes degreaser and time, you'll do fine. Just try to keep water off of engine-compartment stuff that obviously shouldn't get too wet.

Don't use Simple Green as it can discolor/cloud various surfaces.
