Detailing My Audi

Man, I was in your position a couple of years ago. Using Megs and not liking the results. Wanting more out of my paint. Audi's have the best paint and if correctly done you can make it look awesome! I have mettalic melange paint color on my A4 1.8T '00.5. When I was using just Meg's 3 step; paint cleaner, polish and gold class. I went to a car show and seen my same paint color and I was like WOW! Man look at the melange just popping out. I started doing research.

I talked to my Uncle who's a car nut. He owns 5 Camaros and awards out the azz! He told me about Klasse. Klasse All in One and Klasse Sealent Glaze.

Link; http://www.autopia-carcare.com/klasse1.html

All In One is a polish, oxidation, paint cleaner in one. Awesome stuff for people that don't have all the time but want awesome results. Sealent Glaze gives you great shine and great protection. Both will give you protection from the elements. Protection and clean paint is what gives you a long lasting shine. Sealent Glaze (SG) bonds to your paint not sits on your paint like waxes. That's what gives it it's long lasting protection. It gives great shine and depth. Especially if you don't have the time to paint clean, polish and wax every month.

I suggest detailers clay (clay magic), Klasse AIO, Klasse SG, and P21S. P21S is a 100% carnuba wax that adds shine that's unbelivable.

Check autiopias "how-tos" There great. You can also PM if need help. I was in your same shoes.

While we're talking silver Audis (I've had quite a few of them :o ), the whole "which LSP?" thing is all just gonna be a matter of personal perefernce. My wife and I don't even agree (so ours have a different LSPs and they look so different that you'd swear the two cars had different paint codes when you see them side by side).

My fave is 1Z ("Pro") MP topped with 4# UPP. I've never seen anything like it on this color.

For some reason I just don't like the K twins on this one, even with a wax topper, but just look at how much audipower *does* like that approach. And BradB likes Zaino on his. Talk about different looks! Nobody's wrong, we're all just different.

There are a lot of different looks you can achieve depending on what you want it to look like.

Yours sure looks nice, though my heart bleeds for you when I think of cleaning those wheels!

:welcome

Nice car. I used to have a silver B5 S4. Just traded it in for a B6 S4. My experience with my old car was that the lineup that best worked (and I know you started the thread looking for wash tips, not polish/seal/wax tips, but...) to show off the silver paint was Klasse AIO followed by 4* UPP. Slickest finish ever.

Sweet car you got there. You're making me miss my old ride. :(

Yea, I can't wait to start driving it. The B6 is a great interior, though. I personally enjoy the exterior of the B5 more, though. So, what is Klasse AIO and 4* UPP? Are they waxes or what? What website or store can I find them at? Thanks alot.

Accumulator: Yes, the wheels shall be a trip to clean. I'll set aside Sunday for those ;).

4* UPP = Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. Last time I ordered some I got it HERE It's a Last Step Product ("LSP").

AIO = Klasse All In One. Available from a lot of different online vendors, check the links section of the Autopia Home Page. It's a penultimate step product, usually the last thing used before the LSP goes on. A primarily chemical cleaner with a *little* bit of protection.

Hey pierce let me start off by welcoming you to autopia, if you ever have any questions on wut to do on silvers audi's don't hesitate to ask. I myself own a silver audi and have come up with wut i think is my favorite on silver

NXT Wash

Clay

SSR2.5 if needed

SSR1

AIO

Natty's

Let me kno if you have any question and wut u end up doing to it and don't forget to post some pics.

Wow, thanks alot guys. For all the help, and the welcomes. Now, one thing I forgot. What is the SSR. It's some kind of seep dirt surface remover, right? Also, what is Natty's? The help is overhwhelming, thanks again.

OHh yea SSR is the poorboys pslish. they have SSR1, SSR2, SSR2.5, and SSR3. 3 being the being the most aggresive, 1 being the least agressive. You can determine wut you need but looking at the cars paint in direct sunlight and determining wut type of swirling you have going on. The natty's is a paste made by poorboys. It's paste sealant. Basically a layer of et for your car and the effects rae supposed to be long lasting! Any other questions just ask.

Hey Pierce, welcome! :D I'm on AZ too (same s/n) but don't hang out there much anymore as moddin' my B6 put a way too deep dent in my bank account! :( ;) Detailing, while by no means cheap, costs less (don't get me started on turbo upgrades and FMICs), some actually make money doing it.

Who did you buy your B5 from--I'm out in Cali too. Sweet rims, what kind are they? Any other mods?

Yea, all kinds of products to use on your paint--silver's not hard to get lookin' great! Good luck!:xyxthumbs

Poorboys makes great polishes. Very fair in price also. I don't like 4 stars UPP. I like Klasse so much because I grew up using it for 10+ yrs. My uncle has used for that long or longer and I seen how it makes your paint last for years and still have just painted shine. It's the best on darker paints, multi color paint jobs and metallic paints. I don't care what people say. I do agree that it's not the best for shine on white. I still use Klasse but I top it off with Pinnacle on white. Nothing beats 4 tops of SG with 24 hr cures and then 2 coats of Souveran Wax. I do a '60's Buick like that. It's an older lady and she couldn't stand up when I showed here the finishing results.

This is my opinion. I don't disagree with anybody with what they use. Many of these guys have triple the experience I do. Always have a open mind choicing your products. When I was choosing a new polish I read at least 100 of post before making a choice. I took in everybodies experiences, pros and cons. I chose Sonus SFX Polishes and I haven't looked back. There's not a better finishing polish out there.

I will never not do a car without Klasse AIO and SG. I put 4 coats on before my car even sees wax.

I agree, modding is going to be EXPENSIVE. I really wnat an FMIC, but it's really expensive.

I bought my car from Nick (OverSpun) and he's in Orange, CA. I love the wheels, too. I think they accent the body kit and the silver nicely. They are BBS RXIIs.

audipower: Thank you. I am going to look into those products this weekend. My car is supposed to come in the 31st, so I'll be ready to detail by the time it gets here! Thanks to all for the suggestions and support, and I promise to post pics when I'm done.

I have to agree with audipower with regard to the Klasse twins! Ever since I got some I've found that it's superior even to NXT!

I've now got 4 coats of SG on the car but have not yet got round to applying any waxes. (Bad weather and no garage). From what I've read on the various threads on Autopia it seems that I should invest in either P21s or Souveran? or both? In any case, the AIO and 4 coats SG seem to be doing a great job in the Scottish winter.

My audi is also silver and it can be very difficult to get the shine that the darker colours have but the results are still quite good.

I also agree with Axe on the use of synthetic Chamois. I've used the Meguiars Waffleweave drying towel and it does not seem to dry as well as the synthetic chamois.

Hope this is of help?

I don't put any waxes on during the winter, but I use P21S all the other seasons.

The last time I detailed my Audi was in Sept. 4 coats of SG, AIO, Sonus Paint Cleaner and Clay Magic. I've been busy with some show cars and bikes that have shows in Florida and Arizona.

I washed my car Thursday in the driveway. I dried it off and the SG was still going strong. The weather has been unreal here! 55 one day and the next 10. It's unbelievable how it can with stand against salt, mudd, snow and God knows whats in the air. I went to work and everybody was asking in the parking lot when do you have time to detail your car. I always just laugh. It's been 5 months and counting, and SG is still going strong.

If you use SG and clean your paint properly you'll have forever lasting shine. I don't have a garage also, yet. I just bought a house and looking forward to it. I would have ALOT more business if I did.

If you use SG and AIO properly you have 6 months of shine and protection. Through out the 6 month period feel free to add a coat of wax or SG.

I suggest P21S or definitely Sonus Shampoo to wash your ride. Also Sonus Acrylic Spritz to give that just SG look.

I really hope I helped you out PIERCE. I like NXT, but I love SG. It's really not even fair to judge them two together. It's like comparing Star Jones to Jennifer Anniston. Remember don't use NXT over SG because it will damage it. Due to the cleaners in NXT and another reason why you can't coat NXT. I use NXT on my customers wheels.

Nice Avatar AudiDriver! Your making mine look ghetto!

I never help anybody. I just confuse them

thanks audipower,

I have to agree that Pierce can't do much better than Klasse AIO and SG on a silver Audi!

I just had to add this pic of the bonnet/hood reflecting the sunset.

(just Klasse AIO + 4 coats SG.)

I have to do my wife's car now (keeps her from thinking that I'm only interested in just mine). Hers is dark blue metallic so I look forward to how hers comes out but I'm sure it will also turn out good.
