Im going to be doing a few details a week at my home and need some product suggestions. It will most likely be a lot of xpess detailing. Just a quick wash and wax, and maybe a light polish every once in a while.



For the paint, i currently have: 1zup, 1zpp, sonus pwc, vm, cmw, nxt tech wax



If i was to do a xpress detail on the outside, what should i use on the paint? Maybe a good cleaner wax or just nxt tech wax.



For normal detail and for customers who like for there paint to shine, what should i use? The vm/cmw gives a nice wet look, but i need something to add shine. Maybe a sealant in betweem the vm and cmw.



Any tips and suggestions?
 
Also, i know the vm/cmw is great for dark colors, but whats a good combo for light colors?



Maybe adding ex in between vm/cmw for dark colors and ex-p in between vm/cmw for light colors (since ex looks better on dark colors and ex-p looks bettwer on light)
 
If you are going to do this for a buck then you need to get proffesional quality products in large quantity that you can work fast. First get a rotary buffer with good 6" pads (I like Lake Country pads) and learn how to use it, it's twice as fast as a PC and gives a better shine and is more versitile. Second, pickup a good commercial clay/polish/wax in one that works fast, provides a great shine like Malco Rejuvenator in gallon size. With that combo you should be able to take a swirled up black car and complete the job in an hour not counting the wash or interior. If they pay a little extra, do Meguiars #21 (NXT Sealant combo) over that and figure that to be another 30 minutes done with a PC. Then for interiors, get a good vacuum and as money permits, get a good extractor to shampoo the carpets and cloth seats.



Remember, time is money, it's not your car and you want to do the best you can in the timeframe that makes it cost effective. If you spend 8 hours on your car twice a year, so what, if you spend 8 hours per car for $50-100 you might as well go work at McDonalds and make more. Use consumer products like NXT and VM you're paying too much for product, specially for a quicky detail.
 
Im currently in college and just looking to do this as a weekend thing. I have a PC and dont really have the money right now to dish out for a rotary. If I was going to detail more than just a weekend thing, then I would invest in a rotary and also a good hot water extractor.



Also i know the products are more expensive, but i want to give a good quality job.



Im going to end up buying poorboys ssr polishes, because i've read great posts on them and they can be used in the sun.



I have everything i need for everything else, i just need the suggestions for the paint.

Klasse AIO seems to be a favorite although I haven't used it personally.

I'm not sure I'd use AIO as my lsp unless you're wanting to test it's durability. While almost unanimously a great cleaner it gets mixed reviews as your final topper from what I've read.
 
People around here would just want a quick polish and wax. So since the aio is a polish and sealer, i can use it and then use nxt tech wax or cmw



any comments?
 
It't not very popular around these parts, but there is a pretty good line from Megs. It's the MPPC and MPPP. I have both and, when I use them, they do a wonderful job with cleaning and protection.

never heard of those. People around here never even heard of polishing, sealing, glazeing.:nixweiss All they know is wax.



I could just do aio for those who want a quick detail. Since it polishes and seals.



Then for others who have swirls, i could use the ssr line (1, 2.5, 3 depending on how bad they are) and then use VM/cmw, vm/ex, vm/exp, or aio/nxt.
 
AIO and NXT do about the same thing, both have some very mild cleaning ability but do the math, Klasse is $25 for 16.9oz ($1.48 per ounce) or $16 for 18oz (89 cents per ounce) for NXT or get a Meg's professional version of NXT, #21, plus the added value of a sealent for $40 for a half gallon (63 cents per ounce) or Malco Rejuvenator, $16 for 32oz, does the most complete job and for 50 cents per ounce.



Think about it, you want to give the shiniest finish possible with the least amount of work and cost. It's not a question of which product is best long term, it's which make the customer go wow when he picks it up and wants to come back to you and refer you to his buddies. I think for an all in one product that polishes swirls out and leaves a nice wax finish, Rejuvenator is tops. The downside is the wax coating won't last as long as Klasse or NXT but will look shinier than Klasse or NXT on a poorly prepped car since the Rejuvenator is doing the prep and wax in one step.
 
I'm thinking about starting up something similar while on one of those long college summers, but I'm worried about insurance. I hear some people can be belligerent and try to screw you over, so insurance is a must, but I'm not sure about insurance for a business that I'll only have running about 3 months a year. Also anybody have any ballpark figures about how much they pay per month for their insurance? I understand that location and company and many different factors can change the price, but I'm just looking for a broad idea.

AIO and NXT are very different products, and if you pay $25 for 16.9 oz of AIO, you aren't buying from the right places.
