Detailing In Storage Unit

Ive been thinking about detailing cars on the side and had originally thought that i was going to do them in the garage. My driveway though is really really steep though for some stupid reason. Steep enough to where a smaller cars scrape the bottom as they go up. And on top of that I dont have much room in the garage since I currently have my 70 Bronco in part of it. Its in the middle of a motor swap so no way i can move it. Anyways, my current idea is to rent out a climate controlled storage unit and detail out of it. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this or if you guys know of a better idea.

If you're talking about one of those U-store it places. Working on anything in side the unit is a big no-no. They state right up front you can't perform any work in their units

best bet is to find a car related place with an extra bay to "rent" (sub lease) from them...pay about a 1/3 (if three bays) and 1/3 utilities...

I might start looking into this as well! Ideally with a race shop, a car audio shop, a window tinting shop, PDR, etc....all in house would be ideal!

happens quite alot here in the east coast. my garage is my work place. i already have open studio space for my photography. cant afford another lease/payment

Or you could talk to a different storage unit company instead of a corporate one. I deal with storage unit companies all the time and a lot of the owners are pretty cool if you explain what you want to use it for.

Just be careful that the shop you "buddy up" with doesn't try kicking you out and opens up a detail shop after they see how well you're doing. Happened to me after 5 years in a shared location.
