Detailing help...

I'm looking to order stuff to detail 2 vehicles... one being a Black Cherokee (non-metallic and no clearcoat), and the other is a metallic black Protege with clearcoat.

The protege has some surface swirls but nothing major. The cherokee has some fine scratches in certain areas (near doorhandles and a little bit on one fender).

I usually use Zaino on my Mustang, but need to order more, so figured I'd see if anybdoy has suggestions on how to make these vehicles (and the silver mustang when the time comes, probably in a month) look amazing.

Like I said I've used Zaino before, and also tried Klasse AIO as well as an S100 topping (still have the S100 if it matters). Oh and preferably a source where I can get most of the recommendations for a good price.

Thanks

Edit: Source for the products doesnt have to be a Canadian website, US ones are ok too.

What year is the Cherokee. Only reason I ask is, my brother has a 99cherokee and it HAS clear coat. Ive not seen a Jeep that doesnt. We have a 1994 Jeep and it has clear.

BlueLibby: The Cherokee is a flat black 2000. I assumed it doesnt have a clearcoat because of A: the color, and B: I believe it actually said "with clearcoat" for the metallic colors and didnt say "with clearcoat" for the black.

Also the swirl marks appear MUCH quicker on this than the Mazda. I could be wrong though, any way to find out?

Mike: I havent heard of or tried either of those products. Where would I find reviews and/or pics?

Thanks

I just checked Natty's over on Autogeek, seems simple enough. Just a question though, it says "Poorboys recommends using Natty’s over a paint sealant for maximum longevity and an eye-popping wet gleam". So I'd be doing the Dawn + Clay... then what before the Natty's?

Also, anybody have any suggestion as to how I can tell whether my Cherokee has a clearcoat?? It was purchased brand new so I know there hasnt been any repaint.

Lastly, any suggestions on the Protege?

Oh and also,

To remove the light swirl marks on both vehicles, any suggestions/procedures/ideas? The cherokee as I mentioned has more than the Protege, but I'd like to get them both looking like they SHOULD look, Autopian style. As for LSP, I'm looking for something that'll give both the wetness and durability (or at least wetness and about 4-6months of durability, then I can redo it right before winter as they're both daily drivers).

Hopefully I can do one car per day this weekend assuming I get suggestsions today or tomorrow :)

Thanks

The cherokee has clear coat. Im 100% sure on that since we have a 99cherokee that is black.. And its not flat black.. Its your regular base coat with clear coat over it..

Ive not worked on it that much, but im sure Megs #83 or #80 would suit your needs just fine.

Are you using a machine or by hand? If by hand, you're going to be needing a can of elbow grease as well.

I like CG AIO and XMT360 for all-in-one products. CG AIO has more corrective ability IMO. Top them both with your existing S100 or CG Petes53.

The easiest way to check whether your Cherokee has clearcoat is to take a microfiber towel, put some compound on it, and work a very small section of the paint by hand.

If the microfiber has black paint on it, then you don't have clearcoat.

I'm most likely going to be doing it by hand as I've never used a machine yet... If I do get a PC, any suggestions? Also, what's better to use on the cherokee? The Megs or CG or Zaino?

I'm also doing the Protege with is metallic black, so preferably something that would make both vehicles look amazing. Or 1-2items per vehicle, either way as long as looks and durability are there (or definitely looks and 3-4months of durability)

You would get better results and quicker if you used a PC.

You would need to do a test spot to see which product you like best. Find what you like and use it often. :D
