Detailing for Charity *PICS*

GOT PREP?
For some reason last week I started to think about what I could do during the holidays to help those who are in unfortunate circumstances.

Then a light bulb went off in my head and I knew exactly what to do. I got on a local forum and auctioned off a full detail to the highest bidder. The final ending price was $250!!! I was really excited. I went to the mall and got two names form the "Angel Tree" which a division of the Salvation Army.

With $250 in hand I proceeded to shop away!! I was shopping for a boy who is nine named Daimion and girl who is four named Kaiya. The boy liked Lincoln Logs, the incredible hulk, and spider man. The girl liked Nora(?), Barbie dolls, and kitchen sets.

I bargain hunted all day making sure that I got the best bang for the buck. I ended up going a bit over, but I got them everything that I wanted. It was really cool shopping for kids, not cool enough that I am ready for some of my own, but you know..... :D

So anyway, this was so easy. Everybody could do it, I mean we love detailing and being able to help out those in need is just icing on the cake.

Thanks Sean!! The owner wants to have the car detailed in the spring. I told him that I would honor it ANYTIME.

It is a 2004 S2000, so yeah there will be pics!!!! :dancin

Good for you! That is an incredibly excellent idea. Something that everyone, myself included, should consider.

Who would have thought detailing could bring joy to those who aren't even old enough to drive :bigups

Again, excellent idea, we could make this into a yearly thing like toys for tots!

That's a great thing to do:bigups

My family went to the annual Make A Wish holiday party today...as some of youknow my daughter is a cancer survivor ....we marvaled at the amount of volunteers and gifts that were given to each child and their siblings...siblings are often overlooked, but usually take a lot of neglect and get little patience or rewards when their bother or sister is very ill or terminal...
As we looked around the room we commented that many of the kids there looked pretty good, some were in wheel chairs but had good spirits, but then it made us very sad to think of all the children that couldn't make it to this party either because they were still too sick or had died:boohoo we knew way too many that didn't make it:( ....
If you want to make a gift donation, contact your local hospital and their oncolgy ward (cancer) , these children can usually use the cheering up, even more than those who are just down on their luck...it doesn't even have to be something new all the time as we give our old VCR tapes as our kids get older, many of these kids are confined to their beds and regular tv just doesn't cut it, also crayons and coloring books are very welcomed...just a thought for those looking to make immediate impact on a childs life.:hippi

Poorboy,
sorry to hear it about your daughter. My son is a survivor also. We have 1 more year till he gets a clean bill of health. People sometimes ask who you look up to or admire the most. My hero just turned 13. I'll be frustrated and bent out of shape oversomething stupid, he will walk by and say, "easy pop, it's not that big a deal" I laugh and say ya, your right. Then he turns back into the know it all 13 year old again lol.
Sry about the ramble

VERY cool idea btw.

Dude, I'm speechless. That was an AWESOME idea, a Sensational Idea even. Who would have thought that a Silly Individual could come up with such a Sensitive Idea.

Straight up man, you've surely made their Chrismas, and given them a reason to have hope again. Excellent work :bigups :bow :kneel :angel

Mal,

I know how you feel, our daughters just turned 5 and we couldn't imagine only having one of them. We decided that for them to just be happy would be enough for us and also like you try to remember not to get take little things too serious. Good luck to you and your son, we are now 1 1/2 years cancer free:)

Stories like this make me renew my faith in mankind. My brother-in-law just got diagnosed with cancer, he has a wife, a 5 year old son and a 11 month old daughter. We are doing what we can for him. I am trying to raise some money to make this the best Christmas for him and his family.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law:(

one little known fact is that adults stand a much higher chance of recovering from cancer and its treatments...the mortalty rate for children's cancer is very high due to their lack of a fully developed immune system and the ability to withstand the treatments...

That is a great idea. When I open the shop I will be doing some things like that. One thing we have is the Christmas daddy's which raise money for the childrens hospital. I'll look at offering free services for the auction. Its always good to give something back.

I really think it's great what you're doing for those kids. I have an auto-immune disorder, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I see many kids who have it worse than me who benefit from donations by folks like you.

Good for you!
