Detailing Chrome Exhaust Tips

wow, very nice, i have some chrome tips on my truck, I think mine are welded on so ill have to try to do it, while on the truck. Yours look great though, nice job.
 
Chrome tips and other parts rust from the inside out, because the metal is not protected. My chrome tips are welded on also. I cleaned the inside real well, taped off the area and sprayed the insides with semi glass black enamel paint. To clean the outsides...wash them real good with warm soapy water, dry them...then use #0000 steel wool (not #000) with your favorite chrome polish. i apply the polish to the steel wool and rub the surface down. When dry I use a soft cloth to remove any polish.
Tip for steel woll users......if you buy steel wool pads..unroll then cut them in half.....you just doubled the amount of steel wool you have...also wipe down the area that the steel has been in conmtact with...small bits can be left on the surface and will rust if it gets wet
