Detailing After Paint Job

I have a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer which we bought new and has 60K miles. Last fall I replaced the two front fenders due to rust and had the vehicle painted last October. I would like to apply a protectant to the paint and would like to use my PC. What color pad should I use to apply? What color pad to remove? How about recommended waxes, protectants, ect.

Short answer, no wax or sealant for 3 months to allow paint to fully outgas and cure. You can safely get a little protection from Megs #5 glaze.

That's good to know since I just had the hood and fenders of my wife's Explorer repainted. I did some quick detailing on it and just couldn't resist waxing a small portion of it.

paid4c4- What you use will be a matter of what needs done.

Some mildly abrasive polish will remove any marring and bring up a nice gloss. For this you'd use a polishing pad (buff off polish residue by hand). Then another polishing pad or a finishing pad to apply the wax/sealant (again, buff off residue by hand).

Everyone has their favorite products, but I generally recommend 1z brand polishes topped with Collinite brand wax. VERY user-friendly and great results that last a long, long time.
