Well I got ahold of this horribly dirty 94 Honda Accord, it has 120,000 miles on it and has only been washed 2 times in those miles, both at the local gas station wash!!!

Started with the interior swept and shampood...

Onto the outside...washed with Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo, I didn't feel the need to Dawn wash because it had never been waxed.

After Clay Magic clay over the whole car, Meguiars #7, and Satin Gloss Wax (very nice stuff)!!!

Yuck! What products did you use and how?

I know what it's like! One of the first car's I did was a 2000 Buick Century with 50k miles and had been run through the car wash "a couple times" according to the owner. Why? She used to spend a whole day every few weeks detailing her cars, but now she just never liked this car as much. Filthy, rough paint, spotted and dirty carpet, etc., etc.

Can you imagine the shock when I pulled up in the car after 8 hours plus some Klasse & Platinum! At least she gave me a little more $$ than I originally quoted her, but not much.

What is wrong with people!?

I used Clay Magics blue clay bar, which by the way I think is junk...I prefer Mothers by far. But it did the job, just left lots of streaks, and was way too sticky.

The #7 was applied with a foam pad, by hand...and the Satin Gloss was also applied by hand.

Interior I used some Turtle Wax Power Out, on top of some Dirt Devil Shampoo and Rug cleaner, let sit, agitated with a brush and began the shampooing...came out much better than expected.

Owner was extremely happy and I got a decent tip.

Took me about 5 hours.

Great job Aurora!!

Did you shampoo the carpets or just vacuum? They sure looked nasty to start with!!

I can't believe how good the exterior looks! :up :up

edit: You answered all my questions in the time it took me to post them! LOL :)

They were shampood, I think that was the thing that took the longest...about 2 1/2 hours total on the inside, this thing was just filthy inside, never cleaned out...old nasty food under the seats, gum stuck to the carpet...other stuff I don't want to even think about stuck to the carpet...but came out better than expected.

looks great man, I cant believe people would let their cars get that dirty... Looks excellent now though, good work! :xyxthumbs :D

That's odd . . . the CM bar is sticky, but I've never had it leave residue on paint (ala Meg's). :nixweiss What were you using for lube?

Great job on transforming a beater into a beauty, btw!

I'm sorry ... what's Satin Gloss Wax????? Who makes it???

LOOKS GREAT NOW!!!!! WHatta transformation!!! Did you sell her on the Next visit to keep the beauty not becoming a beast again!!!! It's always the best time to resell the job when it looks SOOOOO different that it did coming in....

I just used the lube that came with the clay magic. This car had the BIGGEST tar and sap spots I have ever had on a vehicle.

Only one thing I couldn't take care of, and that was white over spray paint on the tires, I tried absolutely everything I could think of to get it off the car, but with no luck.

Here is a link to their webpage.

Satin Gloss

It's a pretty decent wax, durability seems to be up their with Meguiars #26, and some other "middle" of the line waxes. Gives a great shine, and goes on and off incredibly easy.

I picked up a bottle of it at a big car show/auction here in Indiana last year (Auburn Corde Dusenburg)...they always have guys here trying to sell their wax, or wax that you wouldn't really hear much of.

I like it.:nixweiss

did you happen to try some really light steel wool?? or an SOS pad?? I've seen those used before for similar problems.... heck, even our Murray's Auto Parts store carries SOS pads and some good 'ol #00 steel wool.

I have some real fine steel wool I will have to try on it, never thought of that. Just looks like the guy ran over some fresh paint they put down on the highways.

.................. well when you have a one year old daughter who loves to eat, and gets most of it on in the car then in her mouth, and you have a wife, who loves to feed her while we are inh the car, then you get a car that looks like that. :argue

mine gets bad but not that bad, i clean it out roughly every week or so, and wash and wax it myself...... gosh its so nice to have the wax contanier slide off my hood, when i set it there so that i can wax my roof.cause its cmooth as glass.:xyxthumbs
