Well I have no clue on what to cover leave it open, wet it not wet it etc... Meg's APC woulkd be a good choice or do I need a dedicated engine cleaner ?

Do I cover with Aluminun foil,plastic bags ?

How do I rinse ? Blasting pressure water,moderate ?

I'd recommend reading up on what others have posted thus far. That will give you a good idea of what most people do and then you can build on your process from that.
 
I would cover up any electric boxes, and filters. Meguiars APC will work but a degreaser would probably be better. I woudl dilute the meguars apc 4:1 (if its the detailer line) for engines.

Cover up the altinator too... just do a search and there should be some good info on what to do. Rinse, don't soak the engine.
 
You don't HAVE to cover anything up. Just watch out for the alt. and battery.

If you feel that you must cover stuff up well, cover whatever you feel needs covering.
