Detailer's Survival Kit

I know a lot of you keep a "detailer's survival kit" in your cars for bird bombs and other everyday quick messes. I want to do the same, but have a few questions first...

  1. With the heat and/or cold don't you comprimise the integrity of the product? It's gets pretty cold and hot in my car anyway.
  2. Would there be a safety issue of keeping an aerosol can in your car all the time in different temps.?

thanks.

I don't keep a survival kit in my vehicle. If I get bird droppings, bugs, etc., I do a full wash as soon as I get home.

I've had products that have survived being left outside in snow and they still work. As for aerosol cans in heat. If you look on the can it will show the WHMIS info which should tell you the max. temp. for storage. Most of the max. temps. are 140+ which is impossibly hot for natural weather. Even if it were to ever get that hot, all your products would be useless because the water content would evaporate, or they would bake on the vehicles metal body. A more realistic danger with the can would be an accidental puncture. Aluminum is not strong and product would keep spraying out of the puncture until depleted of propellant. But don't worry about temperature. Unless your parking in a freezer/oven it can't naturally get cold/hot enough to affect them. Their appearance may change, but they will perform the same. Even products that say "do not freeze" on the label, will still work after they thaw.

Thank you, this is good to know! I'll try to avoid parking in freezers or ovens :p

Honestly, all you need is your favorite quick detailer and a good MF. If you keep your paint maintained, that is.

I mix up (from concentrate) a small amount of Optimum Instant Detailer in a spray or spritz bottle. If you think it's going to get really dirty, a hand sprayer (pest control size, 1/2gal or so) with Optimum No Rinse.

I've been using the stuff for about a month and a half, and don't know how I ever got along without it.

You really shouldn't ever park in an oven anyways because it's hot. And it's an oven.
