Detailed: Lexus RX300 w/ new product reviews

Whitethunder, the detail work looks great... and I'm glad you're liking the rotary...

Oh and I think you've started a trend as far as posting photos of your materials/setup haha... I like it a lot... however, why all the products... can you post pics of all the products you have in the 3 milk crates? I can understand bringing all your polishes and LSPs since you're mobile, but what's in all the spray bottles?? I have 5 spray bottles total... APC+ 10:1, APC+ 5:1, Meg's WB 4:1, P21S wheel cleaner 1:1, Simple green and distilled water... you have about 10 or more...

Oh and please post a link to that one thread you made a while ago about all the setup... I want to see the products and stuff again... lost the subscription somehow... thanks

Were on the same level WhiteThunder!

Any sign shop should be able to make you one. I was thinking a sign like a stand up one, kind of like the wet floor signs you see in restaurants.

Jim

I couldn't but picture the "wet floor" yellow sign but saying "Caution: Detailer at work!!" :p

Yes i have, ive tried everything. Wool only now when i need to cut, they are so much better.

Which wool pads do you use? I haven't used edge but the 6.5" LC pads from CMA are pretty easy to control... it does take lotssss of practice though... seeing Joe in one of the videos working the rotary with one hand makes you feel pretty dumb :help:

Lecchilo that would be a pretty funny sign, might be a good joke to use once in a while, may even be effective!!

Jim

Coupe, I sent you a PM

My spray bottles consist of a lot of things. I'll go through every product I carry in the milk cartons tomorrow.

It pretty much breaks down into this though:

Compounds/Polishes/Sealants/Tire Gels/Misc. Liquids are in 8 oz. bottles w/ flip tops.

Wash soaps are in 16 oz. graduated bottles w/ flip tops.

Leather conditioners are in 8oz. bottles w/ red tip cap.

Heavily used chemicals and/or diluted chemicals are in 24oz. graduated spray bottles w/ a corresponding sprayer according to its use. EX: APC+ has high volume sprayer where as PB's S&W has fine mist sprayer.

Lesser used chemicals such as Folex/DG Odor Eliminator/DG AW/etc. etc. are in new 16oz. spray bottles. I did have 12 oz. spray bottles, but these 16oz. are taller and actually thinner so I can fit an extra bottle in the carton).

You sure are organized, I am in the process of reorganizing myself. I use those rubbermaid bins with the locking lids on them. I think I want to have seperate bins for washing/interior/polishes and lsps/towels/etc, etc....

That way, when its wash time i get the "wash bin" when its interior time, i put the wash bin back and grab the "interior bin".

I dunno, seems like a good idea.

Wow! Great thread and nice work! As usual, I have nothing to contribute, as I'm just getting started, but your job looks fantastic. Especially the matts.

I just picked up the Ridgid Store N Go vac today. I was thinking about getting the one you have, but I tend to do more detail jobs at my house, so storing the vac on the wall of my shed should work well. I can't wait to mount it up tomorrow!

One question about the rotary, though. If you are doing 1300-1500 rpm on a 6" instead of 8", do you need to add anything to the speed because the outside of the pad is actually traveling slower? Probably not much of a difference, though, eh?
