I would like to apologize for everyone on this forum for my stupidity. The truth is that I am a part of their sites affiliate program. What I did violated forums rules, was stupid, and must be deleted at once. Please do not hate on Detailed Image as I am in no way part of their company, they are not the shill but I am the one to blame for the link.

Sorry to all

You should be banned again for having multiple screen names.

NO. I suggest you read the rules:

http://www.autopia.org/forum/faq.php?faq=new_faq_item#faq_rule_enforcement

Rule Infraction EnforcementWe're all human. We all make mistakes. However, pushing the house rules to the limit will only be tolerated for so long. Therefore, chronic and severe violators of AUTOPIA.ORG rules will be warned, put on a time-out, or completely banned based on the severity of the violation. We will apply rule enforcement as follows:

1. Warning: Minor rule infractions, such as soft bashing, free-posting, signature/avatar issues, etc.

2. Time Out: Heavy bashing, being a hot-head, soft spamming, bad language, posting inappropriate materials, etc.

3. Banned: Blatant spamming/selling, attacking forum moderators, pornography, racial/sexist/threatening posts, trolling, fraud, liable/slander, multiple accounts, etc.

Looks like they have a boot camp to recruiting Shillers:

I could see it being okay if you did it through your own website, but not here or on other forums. I don't know of any forums that allow that.

I consider this statement as encouraging posting on any forum: "Are you active on automotive forums or blogs?"

Most forums would not allow it.

I agree Bunky.

Most forums won't allow anything along these lines, especially a detailing based forum where there becomes real conflict between people posting these things and the companies that are actually sponsoring the site.

Outside of the context of detailing forums, there's a much bigger possibility. Similar to how some auto sites won't let you post watermarked pictures, have a business name as a screen name, or post your business name anywhere (signature, title, on in threads) if you're a detailer.

Instead of beating around the bush, how about in an effort to create full diclosure and transparency you tell us what's in it for all the Pros?

Because the other thread was locked and this is a very valid question (especially with the events that have unfolded), I feel compelled to answer it.

There are a couple of things that the Ask-A-Pro authors receive for their work. The easiest to state one is preferred pricing. We don't get products / supplies at cost, but rather a discount. The discount depends on the item as some are discounted more heavily than others. The pricing on average I'd say saves 15-20%, but sometimes more. With many sales like a 25% off sale, you can often get items cheaper using sale pricing (once again depending on the item). Even with this, I find the least useful of the benefits of the blog. Wholesale pricing isn't hard to get when your company has a tax ID and you plan on putting in a $1,000 order.

Where the real advantage comes in is with exposure potential. In a sea of quality guys, it is important to stand out and separate yourself from the pack. Contributing to something with out quality guys helps everyone collectively. People that don't read threads on autopia.org might certainly read the blog. It's a very professional setting that allows a different type of interaction with potential clients. Writing articles in a well displayed location shows knowledge and professionalism, along with out positive traits that vehicle owners can find attractive when considering having their car professionally cared for.

In addition, we all can easily and quickly email the group. This has come in handy when looking into product advice, techniques, new products / tools, tips, and even when trying to get the name of an outstanding detailer to refer to someone on a different forum in an area we know noone. I think Scottwax, RickRack, and some others have gotten some traffic from these type of scenarios.

EDIT: Almost forgot we often get the head's up on new products that are going to come out, and give advice on products we'd like to see them carry.

I seriously doubt that you, your partner or your business has a tax ID and even if you did it has nothing to do with getting a discount. It only means that you don't have to pay sales tax when you purchase a product at the beginning. I also seriously doubt you guys are placing $1000 orders either, especially with the discounting structure Detailed Image REALLY gives you guys. 10-15% is nonsense. I know that the more work you spam, the greater the discount. Stop skirting around the truth to make DI look like the good guy here. They're obviously not!

It's a shame that with all the work DJ Mayonase claimed to do in his 10,000 square foot shop and touring all across the county detailing cars that he'd need to stoop to such low levels for big brother to give him a reach around. More BS I'm sure.

No worries Mister Fish, I'm not posting this stuff for you; it's obvious you're way too crazy to believe anything that's real that I'm posting. I'm posting this information for other more sensible people who might have otherwise been mislead.

The information I post is true, and anyone is more than welcome to give me a call to discuss anything they please.

Exactly. Makes total sense that you'd choose to post to an audience that doesn't know any better. That way of thinking is what DI is all about. Focus and prey on people who don't know any better and can't sift through the BS.

Any time you'd like to prove me wrong, feel free to post your tax ID certificate and your recent DI invoices showing everyone what you really pay. Until then......you're dismissed.

Oh, ok then. I guess I need to build up my post count to have credibility with the DI crew as they try to defend their leaders. Bottom line is they created a program that is engineeered to shill forums to earn $$ for them and their affiliates. I know for a fact that their Pros receive benefits from their work on their blog. Only denying that further makes you and the company look worse.

Now it's very clear that you are going on pure assumption and have absolutely nothing to back up your claim of "knowing" what benefits the DI authors get.

Marcs above post is 100% accurate.
