Detailed a 36ft camper today and didn't get paid.

You ought to post his personal information on 4chan. That site is quite well known for going after people like that. ;)

it sucks that some people are dishonest these days. hopefully, you get your money (i'm sure you worked hard for it) and not have to deal with him anymore. i guess it's a lesson learned and from now on, you'll need at least 25% (or whatever you feel is reasonable) down on jobs like this...

just go over there and get it in person, quit with the phone games! Get the cops over there, "theft of services" is what you need to claim! They should make him pay up or he will be hauled off to jail! Showing up with the police will MAKE HIM pay you.

But beware, your name will be tarnished in his circle of friends...

If this guy is this much of a jerk, you can only imagine what his friends must be like. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the opinions of this gaggle of turd$.

I agree. Do whatever it takes to get paid. Since you said calling the police didn't work, I would walk into the police station and tell them that his man has essentially robbed you.

Hmm. Tell me more about this site. Scott to answer your question.

My friend who is a police officer said the following. I made it a civil

matter the moment I agreed to meet him later for payment. Had I not agreed

and said pay me or else, the police would've showed up upon me calling and taking a report.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.I hope I'm never in a situation like that. But don't do anything drastic, you don't want to have to make bond. Try to be patient and see if the guy is going to pay you. If not you have learned a Good lesson. Rest assured he will get what he deserves, and it does not have to come from you.

You should call the police again, this is NOT just a civil matter. In Colorado, and most states, this is theft of services. You can also go the civil route and place a mechanics lein on his trailer. When you do, call me and we can take the gang camping!!!:)

I would go to his house and kindly inform him that a knee replacement costs alot more than 350 dollars, smile and walk away. He will be constantly looking over his shoulder when out in public, after this comment.

Sucks to hear about your trouble! I'm not sure if its the same, but I once had a bad check given to me for work that I had done. When I went to court to file a claim, I was informed that I am entitled to go after 3x the amount of the check! Man was I happy... After the party got served w/ court papers, they agreed to settle for the amount of the work plus all associated costs with trying to get the money.

You're not the only person that told me about asking for more.

I'm going to call on Monday and find out if I can do that.

Yea, basically it's going to end up costing him more than $300-350 at the end anyway...just sucks you gotta make due in the mean time.

Even if a judge rules in your favor you then have to go about collecting on the judgement which may be difficult if the customer has no funds. If you go on a court show like Judge Judy and win you will get PAID by the network.

wow! that's crazy! always keep the keys until payment received and call the cops when something like this happens! hope you get your money!

That's a bummer. I'm sorry to hear that. :(

Just out of curiousity, who told you this? Was it a dispatcher or an actual police officer? If the call center is like most others, there is usually an actual police officer who is a supervisor working there. If so, insist on speaking to him or having a Sgt., Lt., or Shift Commander call you back. Most dispatchers only regurgitate the things that the police supervisors tell them to say. Insist on having a report made and get a case number for the incident as well as to get the incident number for the call that you made. They're supposed to log the calls and assign numbers to them when they come in. Most times they don't do it because they're too lazy to type the info. into the system.

Remember, get the names and ID numbers if applicable, of all of the persons that you speak with.

Another thing you could do is just spread the word about this bum among your peers.

This is an unfortunate situation, and hopefully it works out for you...however, in reference to the above comment, that is completely inaccurate! If someone were to call 911 here in Pennsylvania, our dispatchers would advise us of the call (yes, I am a full time police officer with 13 years on the job), and knowing the facts, the complainant would receive a phone call from one of us advising you that it is a civil matter. No log, no call sheet, nothing would be filed with our department. Just keep in mind that police investigate crimes (criminal activities) and that is all that gets logged.
