Justin: yes I do use a rotary... it's not that difficult to learn once you've spent enough hours on it... I guess most people don't use a rotary coz for maintenance purposes, it may be an overkill to own one... I don't know... if I'm not doing other people's cars, I most probably would stick to an orbital as well... and rent a rotary when I need to do restoration detailing...
Estoril: Paint is paint, when using a rotary on a clearcoated paint, most probably the pads are covered with clear paint as well, I clean them just the same way, spur and brush, soap, spin dry... If it's really stubborn (like on my wool pad), I dipped it in a little denatured alcohol, washed it several times and ran the pad (with no product) on our refridgerator wall/door just to make sure that the pad stilll works...
