So I am sure most of you are wondering just what is a GG Quadster! Well I first laid eyes on this beast at the 2009 Dallas Auto Show. I was a vendor and had a display and they were set up just behind me. I had never seen one of these things and after talking to the GM I learned that these are HUGE in the UK.
To get them into the US was a long and tiring process. They are classified as a car, so you do not need a motorcycle license to drive one of these, but it does help as its very similar to a motorcycle. I found out that Michale Jordan and Jay Leno have one of these in their car collection.
I asked the GM if I could detail one of these as I have never seen one and would like to be the first to do a write up. He agreed and we set up a date and time.
To see this thing in person is just crazy. The craftsmanship that has gone into the development and build is just amazing. Every thing has been CNC machined and everything is custom.
To get them into the US they come with no motor or transmission and body. The frame looks like a 4-wheeler ATV. Then when you put your deposit down you can choose your BMW motorcycle motor. You can opt for the lower HP model GG Quad, or the high HP motor the GG Quadster.
I took this detail as if I was doing a motorcycle and planed on doing my Bike High Gloss treatment. This incorporates paint correction for the painted surfaces.
I ended up using the Makita with the GI yellow foam pad and the GI One Step Machine Polish to work out the deeper RIDS and break down the swirls. Once I had this completed I grabbed the 7424 and with a combo of 105 and GI Evolution Polish and a light green GI foam pad I went around and worked out the micro-swirls I was seeing with my Fenix LED light. This combo worked great and by using the GI polish with the 105 it helped cut down dust and I did not want much of that as this thing has TONS of little nook and crannies and I did not want to rewash and dry this beast.
Another treat was that the GM took me out to lunch and let me drive one of these. I must say it took some getting use to, esp in the turns but once I was on it for a bit I got use to it and it is a huge blast, and a major head turner. We stopped to get some gas in them and it was almost an hour before we could get back on the road due to the amount of people who wanted to see it and touch it and ask about it. LOL. I have been in some crazy cars to date, and this thing had more interest than anything I have been in...including the Veyron!
The GG Quad starts at 50K and the GG Quadster climbs up to 65K due to the larger more powerful BMW engine. It might sound pricey but this thing is more fun to drive than most exotics and with a 0-60 time in just a tad over 3 secs and a top speed well over the 100 mph mark, this thing is way up in the list of cars I will own one day when I win the Texas lotto! LOL
The LSP was the GI Signature High Gloss Polish topped with GI Gloss Finish. The seats were PH cleaned using the GI Satin Leather Cleaner and conditioned using GI Satin Leather Polish.
The rims were cleaned using GI Signature Wheel Gel and tires were coated with GI Signature Tire Gloss. The wheel by the way were Work and are extremely light!
Just Google GG Quad for more info about this quad.
Enjoy the shots of this rare gem...
I know the photos do not show it but paint correction was obtained as shown with the Fenix LED. The paint was a tad on the hard side. Took a bit to correct it but with the above method it came out stunning.
